    Love the aesthetic look of it. Still amazes me, all these years later, that one island could rule so much.

      Not to distract from the achievement of the British Empire, but a good chunk of that land was relatively empty. Canada and Australia were both very sparsely populated with population centers in one relatively "small" area. It's still amazing that the Empire was able to keep supplies moving throughout the vast territory of course.

        Oh, I know. Really, it amazes me more that Britain held on to places like India for so long. I'm thankful that India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Burma are free of Britain today, of course, but it is still fairly amazing that Britain was the first nation since the fall of Asoka's empire to unite so much of the subcontinent and hold it together.
