Any GIS specialists?
Hello! My name is Logan and I'm a senior Geography major! I was wondering if anybody in here is a GIS analyst/specialist and has any advice for a soon-to-be-graduating GIS person?

Are you looking for job advice, what tech to get to know, or what?
Yes. Haha!
What would you recommend I become familiar with in addition to common software packages like ArcGIS and ENVI?
If you haven't already, get a feel for Python and/or JavaScript.
Also, if you get a chance before you graduate, do an internship with a local company. Doing GIS without the tutorials and on a real world project(s) is the best way to understand what you need to learn and gain confidence in what you do know. I also think it helps you understand that GIS is an iterative process where there are times you have to try what doesn't work to figure out what does.
GIS Manager here. Have been in GIS for over 20 years. Welcome to the field.
What kind of advice are you looking for?
Do you hire people? What kind of skills and qualifications do you look for in people entering the field?
