I don't even do the last. I have short-haired cats who don't really need tending to. Marco gets the occasional tiny mat behind his ear, and I just pull it out while I'm petting him. Temmie will come over while the dogs are getting brushed (freaking shedding labradors) and brush herself on the dog brush if we hold it out. I don't know if that counts as brushing her, though.
My boys are fastidious in their grooming, so I don't really do anything at the moment.
My old cat, from when she was 15 or 16 until she passed at 18, pretty much stopped grooming altogether. I brushed her several times a day to keep her comfortable.

Hairballs have a way of keeping me to a grooming schedule.
