On caskets and funerals

religion #death #funerals
I spoke at my grandfather's wake tonight. I kept it as short as I could and used this Cory Booker quote.
The casket he's in was made by my father in about three days. Maple and hickory. (Heavy AF. g) Because I got in as fast as I did, I was able to help, and it's a strong feeling to have been a part of it.
Tonight was the viewing and the wake (Catholic service) and tomorrow is the funeral, the luncheon, and the burial.
Currently we're having the Irish version of the wake and my family is letting me sit in the corner and be. I appreciate them for it.

<3 much love to you and your family, bb.

There is something so emotionally gorgeous and satisfying about the casket story. I told my dad, who's a woodworker, about you and your dad doing that and it made him smile--he thought it was really cool.
Much love to you, tonight and tomorrow especially.
