Easter for Muslims
Muslims too revere Jesus Christ, and Easter should be a time to commemorate his teachings
Easter is a time for thinking about Jesus, for Christians and others. Sadly, though, we in Britain today take too little notice of the example of the man whom the holiday commemorates. That might sound odd coming from a Muslim like me, but it's true - and I'm not alone in thinking so.

I found this interesting.

You make a good point, @bernburgerin, and I apologize for my timing. It would have been interesting stuff at a different time, but it did distract from what makes Easter so special in human history. Thank you so much for posting this.
No, thank you for facilitating discussion! It can sometimes be hard to talk about matters of faith for fear of being wrong, and I really don't get that vibe from this Imzy group~
You have given me a great compliment!! I have led many small groups, and I always love hearing, "I was never comfortable asking this at church." This is a safe zone. I particularly enjoy conversing with people who have been encouraged not to question things! Sorry, but it seems to me that informed faith is far better than blind faith. And I don't have a lot of patience with those who claim to have all the answers. I don't mean to be inappropriate, but it was especially gratifying when someone asked about masturbation in a group. They knew it was a safe place to talk about intimate things.
There is a huge difference between being wrong and uninformed and the truth is that the Bible has more gray areas than many would have you believe. I never mind people disagreeing with me if they have a biblically informed point of view.
While it certainly is interesting and I'm glad Muslims too revere Christ, I feel this comes dangerously close to stealing another religion's holiday and remoulding it for one's own purposes. Jesus's teachings are to be celebrated, but Easter is more a time for his Resurrection to be celebrated. It is that God raised Him from the dead that makes Easter what it is, the most important holiday of the Christian year, as my priest said on Easter Sunday. Perhaps such a hypothetical holiday could be given a different name? I wouldn't personally take issue then.
