It turned out to be surprisingly hard to find a non-clickbaity article about the newest announcement that the live-action Disney's Mulan wouldn't be a musical. I haven't heard a whisper about the Universal film, but at least the Shirley MacLaine film seems to be done-ish and has hit the promo circuit! Movie's not "out" yet but the reviews are coming in and its current RT score of 73% isn't as high as some others of the live-action series (The Jungle Book got 95%, Pete's Dragon 97% and Cinderella 83%) but that may change, who knows? Also: music video. Ha! Perfect timing for me to be seeing this, after watching Descendants. Cool visuals of various classic Disney characters placed into modern setting. The song lost the category, but it was a lovely performance! Also congrats to the team behind Zootopia for getting the Best Animated Feature, that was well-deserved. It's likely my feelings will change after I watch the film, but just seeing Mrs. Pott's eyes on the toy shelf my initial reaction is KILL IT WITH FIRE Basically, the uncanny valley is strong with this one.
