11/15/2016: Urban Decay

And on the pedestal these words appear: 'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!' Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away

I love looking at pictures of Urban Decay. There is something powerful, haunting yet almost peaceful about seeing pictures of Nature reclaim what is rightfully hers. They serve as a reminder to me that our time on this planet is temporary. This doesn't mean we shouldn't treat nature with respect, instead just knowing she is gonna be here when we're gone is all the more reason to respect her.

It gets especially moving to see pictures of stuff you experienced as a child, now succumb to rot and ruin. I remember watching minor league baseball games at this stadium growing up. Now look at it. Probably at some point it’ll be leveled and man will eventually build something else in its spot, but eventually that will fall over too.

Sure, the message you could take from this is "why does anything we do matter if it'll eventually all fade away?". But take a look at the same stadium in its prime. There is life there. No one is fretting over what it'll look like in 20 years. This tells me to live in the moment, for once the moment is gone it won't come back.
