What are you reading right now?
Everybody publish their pull-list and what you like about each title. Let's get some recs going!
Here's mine:
The Wicked + The Divine An amazing, unpredictable fantasty story set in the modern world, about fame & death. Every 90 years twelve gods incarnate on earth in the bodies of young people, then die after 2 years.
Descender Star Wars-level science-fantasy. A decade ago mysterious robots known as Threshers appeared and all-but destroyed human civilization. Now it's been discovered that the Threshers share their source code with a little boy companion robot, and nobody knows why.
Injection A think-tank of the world's best and weirdest were assembled to figure out the trajectory of human development. They were disappointed with their conclusion, so they decided to spice things up a bit. Now they're dealing with the aftermath.
Velvet Velvet Templeton is the Moneypenny of her super secret spy organization, until she stumbles on a conspiracy that killed one of her favorite field agents. If you love classic Bond you will love this.
Star Wars: Darth Vader Marvel is hitting hard with their new Star Wars comics. Darth Vader is everything you want him to be, ruthless, peerless, and dominant in the Force. So far this series is set between Episodes IV and V.
Vision The Vision has always been a dependable B-lister for the Avengers, but now he's gotten weird. Really weird. He created his own family of synthoids, and they're exploring the darkest recesses of humanity.
Paper Girls Four paper girls from the 1980s are embroiled in a time travel adventure.
Switch The reboot Witchblade desperately needed! No more weird porno bondage, now the latest wielder of the Witchblade, a nerdy teenage girl, finds herself thrust into the middle of the eternal supernatural war happening in the Top Cow universe.
Rat Queens A foul-mouthed fantasy adventure. The Rat Queens are a tough-as-nails mercenary crew, ready to do any job.
Invincible (updates quarterly, if at all) Everybody knows Invincible, it's Robert Kirkman's other comic. And it's still amazing.
Nonplayer (updates... every couple of years?) Only two gorgeous issues available, but this is one of the most intriguing comics I've read in the recent past.

I'm all caught up on The Flash, and am lagging a little behind on my Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor incarnations. I was doing some Spider-Gwen and it's not bad, but it didn't grab me. I love the newest run of Nova as well. Really fun and full of life.
Who's not reading Captain America: Steve Rogers? I'll admit, I want to see where Captain Hydra goes, heh
I just got Hoopla, so I checked out the new Archie, and The Wicked and The Divine. And looking forward to checking out this Pretty Deadly book I've been sitting on.
Current Pull List:
Saga - I feel like this doesn't even need a comment.
Paper Girls - Anything by BKV is a must read for me.
The Wicked + The Divine - Just an amazing comic. I finish every issue and then just flip back through it going "how the hell did they do that?"
Sex Criminals - Whenever it actually comes out, but just such a great comic with so much heart and humanity.
Velvet - Even worse delays than Sex Criminals but anybody who liked Brubaker's Cap run should be picking this up.
Whatever Project Ed Brubaker and Sean Philips are Working On - Seriously I will pick up anything they put out, they are an amazing creative team.
Deadly Class - Teenagers in an underground assassin school could be a very silly premise but this comic is so much more than that. This series is absolutely brutal but just some amazing characters. I feel like people aren't talking about this series enough.
Black Science & Low - Two really great, super bizarre science fiction comics by Rick Remender. Very unpredictable.
Birthright - Really great fantasy series. Another one that I think is underrated.
Southern Bastards - Being from the south this especially hits home for me.
Outcast - Really good horror comic. It's a slow burn for sure but it just has that great horror atmosphere.
Howard the Duck - Currently occupying my bizarre corner of the Marvel Universe quota.
Doctor Strange - See Howard
The Fix - If you liked Superior Foes of Spider-man pick this up, black comedy at its best.
How's Paper Girls? And how much of it is out? I'm a terrible person in that I only really pick things up when they come out as TPB - do I have to wait for it?
It just started its second arc so there should be one trade out. It's super weird but really good.
Sex Criminals volume 3 is now available!
I just finished Preacher, unimpressed. I'm nearly done reading V is for Vendetta and following East of West. East of West is phenomenal. Due to a suggestion here I'll be checking out Transmetropolitan. I'd also like to hunt down Bone, but I've not found it digitally yet.
Yeah, a lot of the late-90s ultraviolent comics haven't aged particularly well.
I think it comes down to age. You kind of had to be a teenager to get into late-90s gonzo comic violence because so many of those titles were written from the perspective of being frustrated with characters like Superman for never using their powers effectively.
They were enormously cathartic when I was a kid. Seeing Stormwatch actually be willing to use their powers in imaginative and destructive ways was much more satisfying than watching Superman be stymied by yet another bank robbery because he doesn't want to risk hurting anybody (in spite of the fact that he can literally travel at light speed).
I can get behind that, the reoccurring and seemingly pointless sex in Preacher really turned me off (from reading the books). I did finish them all, but I'm not going to suggest them to anyone.
Has any more Rat Queens come out since the last trade, and the artist drama?
What was the last one you remember? I know I picked one up recently I'll double check.
Issue 16 came out this month, so it seems to be releasing steadily again.
Woop!
I've been a little behind on most things for the past year, but before that I was reading The Walking Dead, Chew, and Invincible.
I just started re-reading Preacher and The Boys.
