Anonymity, we often assume, is the breeding ground for bad behavior on the internet. Among the gatekeepers of comment sections and social media sites, the conventional wisdom is that anonymity empowers bullies to voice hateful opinions without consequence.

    So the most interesting thing I took away from that article was that Twitter has admitted that about 8.5% of its users may be bots. And that non-bots continue to defy expectations.

    This is interesting to me because a ton of news websites in my country have recently changed to only allowing 'real name' commenting and I don't feel it has had any impact on harassment or abuse in their comment sections.
