A community for conlangs and conlangers
The Dailies. April 29
Did you work on your language today? Create any new rules of grammar or syntax? New progress on a script? New words in your lexicon?
On the other hand, do any excavating or reading or enjoying stuff you've already created? Do you have any favorites to share?
How did you conlang today?

Today I joined the ConWorkShop and set up a page of Lash-enne there. I set up my phonemes and played a bit with the word generation tools just to test it out. Immediately it gave me words I hated the sound of, which was actually good because it made me realize "oh, that sound might only occur word-finally", and stuff like that. So I'm gonna be playing with that over the next few days. I think I like the notion of using a word generator, once I get it to make words I like, because I tend to overthink the words I make a lot. So just generating random sets of sounds and keeping them around for when I need to coin something might be handy.
Briefly, I considered whether what I'd been rendering is /a/ was actually /ä/, but after thinking about it (and also realized that the a vowel in standard Arabic, which is the closest to mine, is given as /a/) I decided to keep it as is.
Since I'm actually having fun with this phonotactics thinking, I think I'll just poke that some more later or tomorrow. I don't think I'll have time for this week's weekly topic though but oh well.
Any idea for next week's topic?
Great! I will check out your language page. You can check out Lortho if you would be willing to do so.
Nice! I kinda wish there was a way to follow other users or langs on the site. But as far as I can tell, there's not.
Mine is here. Not much on there yet, mind you. Also it's very much annoying me that it keeps insisting I haven't added "at least 5 phonemes" yet when I totally have. Grr.
Glad you're enjoying it. Most ä phonemes get IPA'd as a in practice because it's the most common a-related phoneme.
