A community for conlangs and conlangers
The Dailies. February 17
Did you work on your language today? Create any new rules of grammar or syntax? New progress on a script? New words in your lexicon?
On the other hand, do any excavating or reading or enjoying stuff you've already created? Do you have any favorites to share?
How did you conlang today?

I've been slacking off a bit the last few weeks, so I decided to start writing a Lindhina sentence or two about my day every evening.
Yesterday's: gi-dhen luta konat lutecet. sesoni, gi-ti saket mag a nurilif. (I played videogames. Tonight I will eat pasta at a restaurant.)
... which forced me to create vocab for 'game', 'play', 'computer' and 'restaurant'. And then I thought 'datikonat lutece' sounded too long and unwieldy, so they're now just 'machine games' in Lindhina. 'Restaurant' is literally 'food house'.
Nice! Also hello.
Ooh, what a great idea! Unfortunately it would be a bit hard for me to do the same since the cultures are so different from RL today. But it's very cool! Love your sample and the brand-new words! "Nurilif" sounds so cute, but I'm also very impressed by you having a word for videogames now!
Gi-ti saket mag... now, as it happens! (What's 'now' in Lindhina?)
... mm, delicous saket. :)
I'm not sure I have a specific word for 'now', actually! But semadh (this-time) would probably work.
Then, gi-ti saket semadh!
Go you! Sounds like a great idea.
I meant to start making my system for tempus today but I didn't get around to it and now i'm too sleepy. I did think a lot about conlanging though because I'm reading a book on phonology and phonetics for class.
The thinking is sooo important though.
So trying to absolutely finalize my clicks inventory in Akachenti today and ran into still not knowing if it's reasonable to exclude the clicks I have the hardest time with.
I definitely have and use:
That leaves gaps of the voiced and unvoiced alveolar clicks with or without lateral release and I can at least pull them off if I add lateral release or labialization (correct term? or is that mini w just rounding?). Then there's voiced and unvoiced clicks without lateral release or nasalization (can barely do) and the nasal lateral click (can't do). I want to kick bare voiced and unvoiced clicks to the curb, maybe keep the alveolars with voiced / unvoiced and lateral/labialized release, and I definitely want to kick the nasal lateral click out the door. I'm just not sure that leaves a remotely naturalistic series.
I can't do one single click sound myself despite thorough explanations of how to produce them. Good luck!!
Thanks! I'll take it. :D
