Today I added my first fictional beast:
toshani, -u (n.) a six-legged carnivorous reptile; pl toshanemi, toshanune
I envision the beast to have a slight resemblance to the thanator from James Cameron's Avatar.
Here is the brief description of the animal that came into my gray matter:
I was quite surprised at how many images came into my mind about what type of environment this animal would be thriving in after I thought of the toshani. I am torn between a dry or an aquatic lifestyle. At this moment, I am leaning more towards a dry environment with rocky terrain.
I ended here so I can process what I just wrote. Whadaya think?
I'll admit, the big dino head and short arms combo does make it rather more humorous-looking in my head rather than scary. Nevertheless, it's a cool concept. I'd go for something with rocks, personally. Seems like it'd be a terrifying thing to have looking down on you from a cliff.
I agree that it might look comical to a point, but Tyrannosaurus Rex and its Allosaur cousins were all quite formidable with the same issues - only they were bipedal.
