So... anyone interested in a Highlander/X-Files fic?
Cause these poor stories got so few reads cause the fandoms are dead.
But... I love them.
EDIT: It's Methos and Alex Krycek.
Here's the link for anyone willing! http://archiveofourown.org/series/315647

Highlander is still around as a fandom; it's just gone a little quieter now that most of the folks who wrote it and are still active have gone into other fandoms (like the Marvel Cinematic Universe). Killabeez still has a weekly rewatch over on her blog: http://killabeez.dreamwidth.org/531797.html for this week's ep.
I deeply love these stories, but have been horribly negligent in leaving a proper comment to say so. Guess that means it's time to read them again and try to find something coherent to say.
I would love to hear anything you have to say!
I might or might not be. I'm kind of a fannish butterfly and will try anything that sounds interesting. Fandom alone doesn't always tell me.
I don't know either fandom in any depth. I've watched an episode or two or each series and read a good bit of fic (mostly crossovers with other things).
A crossover? Is Methos an X-file? I am down for this!
It IS a crossover.
And it's with Methos!

Not a fandom I got into, but more surprisingly, I haven't seen any Highlander or X-files AU. Which is a bit odd, because I've seen so many Sentinel!AU fics, and I'd never heard of that show, but I had heard the other two.
For some reason, neither really took off as an AU... I'm not sure why. Is Sentinel newer, maybe? Like maybe they just missed the zeitgeist?
Apparently it ran from 1996-1999. I've just seen it pop up in quite a few fandoms. Kind of like a soulmate au, but with more of a need for one partner to require the other
Yeah, I never really watched Sentinel, but I can understand the draw of the AU.
Sentinel was running concurrent with HL and XF in the late 90s, but was never nearly as large of a fandom.
The premise of The Sentinel is that Jim went to Peru and came back with the power of the Sentinel awakened in him, giving him the kind of super senses that were used to protect the tribe in ancient Peru. Each Sentinal has their Guide, a person highly attuned to their Sentinel, helping them to hone their senses and guide them through overstimulation. Canonically very much like soulmates.
In the 90's, AU wasn't as big a thing as it is now. I don't ever remember coffee shop AUs or high school AUs the way things are now. Besides, HL had nearly all of recorded time to work with - it's hard to write a Regency AU when your characters were canonically active in the Regency era :-)
I think we mean more the other way around. People using HL as the source AU for another show. Like turning Neal Caffrey into an immortal or something.
I used to see Highlander AUs, where characters from other fandoms became Highlander-style Immortals. In fact, I wrote one! http://archiveofourown.org/works/1066624?view_full_work=true
However, I've seen many many more Highlander/other show crossovers. Highlander was a sort of gateway fandom for me--got me into other fandoms via crossovers....
Tigriswolf did a couple of small Highlander/White Collar crossover vignettes with Neal Caffrey as a very old immortal. They're on AO3 and frustratingly short but only because I wanted more.

Also, Springwoof! Hi, I'm so happy to see a name I know.
Hi hi hi! {hugs}
All the hugs And a woof from Peggy, who is one year old now, and the friendliest canine in North America at the very least.
Why didn't imzy let me know all these replies were here? Going to go check out these fics now. :)
I've seen that - hell, I've written it (Leverage and Pacific Rim). :-)
