Gather together, chummers. Cyberpunk Librarian is abandoning Facebook and trying something new! Welcome to Imzy!
Allow myself to introduce... me?
I notice there are a few new folks here thanks to misbegotten and perhaps from my podcasts. So, hello! My name is Dan, and I'm not not writing a podcast right now. I mean, I'm writing it. Notice the double-negative there? Yeah, that's a thing, it keeps me honest, at least in my text.
I suppose I should introduce myself? Missy did and it seems like a good idea. Right then, here we go.
Occupationally, I'm a systems librarian for a public library. You know when you go to the library and check something out? The person behind the desk is using a software package called an integrated library sustem (ILS) to do that for you. My job involves making sure the ILS is up and running smoothly for everyone -- staff and public. I've worked in librares for over 20 years.
Beyond my job, I do geek things. I play around with computers never caring what operating system I'm looking at. I write things, sometimes I write quite a lot, and sometimes I write a book. I'm an ambient and space musician. I blog, though this one is a little new and a little old as I'm resurrecting a new site on an old URL.
My podcasts are a real focus for me right now as I have three that I'm working on and a fourth in planning. Cyberpunk Librarian is a show about using free, open source, and/or inexpensive technology to do some cool things. While I zone in on libraries a bit, I've got some fantastic listeners who aren't librarians. I guess you can do this stuff on the other side of a front desk! Generating X is a new podcast about growing up in the eighties and early ninties. Intragalactic Librarian is a series I'm trying to get more done with, as it involves sci-fi and librarians, which I think is kind of a cool mixture.
Anyway, if you're here, expect to see a bunch of weird tech stuff, library stuff, weird library tech stuff, cyberpunk imagery, odd music that might not really be music after all, and other strangeness. Look, I'm a librarian geek... and that's a deeper shade of soul and a different brand of bizarre.

I'm so glad you've decided to come to Imzy!
Thanks! I'm really enjoying the space. :)
