Introducing Utopia Ambientium

Space

After the latest episode of Cyberpunk Librarian, I got to thinking. For those who've not listened, that episode is about the music I listen to while I work, ambient and space. I said on the show that I didn't want to do a podcast about ambient and space music because there are people out there who are already doing that, and they're far better than I'll ever be. But I do want to do something with my favourite music and it occurred to me that I don't think I've ever seriously wrote anything about music.

Which is odd, because I've been a musician since I was five.

I've composed music, which is to say I've actually written music before. Indeed I'm working on a new album. But writing about music is something different and something I've never done. And the more the idea rattled around my brain, the more I wanted to try it. I set up a website just to play with it, see if I could do anything with it and, well, I didn't hate what I wrote. That's always a good start. But rather than dumping thoughts on a website, which is many cases is the last node on the net when it comes to conversation and sharing, I thought it might be fun to do this on Imzy.

So I'm taking some of the writing off that site, adding links to tunes and YouTube so you can actually listen to the thing I'm writing about, and then sharing my thoughts about it. I call it Utopia Ambientium, which sounds like a thing you'd call an ambient and space music blog, and you can check it out right now here on Imzy. I hope to see some of you there.
