This is a very pertinent topic to my life right now. People have told me in the past that I overreacted by ending friendships with people 'because of differing opinions'.
My issue with this is that by simply saying 'differing opinions', you compare things like blatant racism and homophobia to liking a different movie, colour, or video game etc. One of these two categories directly affects the quality of life of many people, and you don't get a cookie for guessing which one it is.
