I stopped using my phone as an alarm clock: Here's what happened. | Carley K
Using your phone as an alarm clock is like your morning caffeine addiction- it's a no-brainer because it's convenient and everybody does it. But I've come to find it has some major minuses, which is why for 2 weeks I've been plugging my phone in elsewhere and using an old-school alarm clock.

FWIW, I'm sharing this but I'm not going to stop using my phone as my alarm clock. I know, I'm awful.

This all sounds like a personal problem. Just because she has her phone beside her bed doesn't mean she has to check it. Or to go further, just because she uses her phone as an alarm clock doesn't mean she has to keep it on the bedside table! I keep mine on the dresser across the room just like I would any other alarm clock. Forces me to get up instead of hitting snooze.
I use my phone as an alarm clock, and for the last week and a half haven't need an alarm for any reason whatsoever, and I've still woken up when my alarm usually goes off, give or take a few minutes. Even when I was in a different time zone. My kids joke with me about even having an alarm clock. So... uh... Don't play with your phone before you go to sleep. It's pretty much that easy.
I have a tendency to wake up before my alarm goes off whenever I set it. It's like my internal clock is braced to wake up.
If I have to set my alarm for an earlier time for some reason, I sleep horribly. I just worry about it not going off or sleeping through it, I guess. But right now I get my kids up for school at 6:30, and my alarm is set for 6:15. They don't go back to school for another week and a half, and I'm still getting up at 6:15. Because of course I am. And I'm horrible about going back to sleep once I'm up.
