Most Evangelical Christians Say Science and Religion Can Coexist
Never mind the outspoken Christian leaders who reject the Big Bang and human evolution; nearly 70 percent of rank-and-file evangelicals in the United States say they don't see religion and science as being totally at odds, a new survey found.

People with faith shouldn't be afraid of science: they should be thrilled at the wonderful discoveries of how this universe works!
I'm pretty sure science isn't afraid of faith so... haha
science might be a little afraid!
(((This is part of a series of articles I'm posting based on your requests, FYI)))

outing someone as potentially religious on the web is like telling the town leaders you saw a woman pet a black cat in Salem, 1692!

don't you dare tell em about the crow sitting on the rafter or the levitation either dammit :D
I've always loved the complimentary approach between science and religion. That when science reveals something amazing about this universe, that it should be treasured by the religious because a little bit of God's mystery is revealed to us. I think of scientific discoveries as spiritual gifts. God created a universe where everything is part of his/her design.
When there are theories that help us understand the world more, these should be celebrated, not fought over. Evolution, General Relativity, Special Relativity, and Quantum Mechanics. Each time we plumb these depths we discover the world is more complicated and glorious than it was before.
We may never really get all the answers to all our questions, and in that I see it as a blessing. Perhaps always having a touch of the mystery, always having questions, always wanting more is another gift from God. And that our chasing after them is pleasing to him/her.
It's certainly better than being really uptight about some new discovery and trying to suppress it.
Exactly! Well articulated! Religion and the religious should not feel so THREATENED by "SCIENCE". There's a frightening wave of anti-intellectualism in the world, spurred by fear and fear-mongerers. It does not have to be this way.
Liberty University creationists agree. "Intelligent design blends science and the word of God. We get all the answer we need by reading Genesis and praying. Even though carbon dating is an extremely flawed. We call it carbon raping around here. Stupid athesists. Just a little creationist humor gets them all riled up. Even though it's flawed, we learn in Genisis 1.1 that God created the heaven and the Earth. It's not until Genisis fired Peter Gabriel that they really took off. More humor there but we learn in Genesis 1:3-5 when God created day and night. Of course, God has no sense of time like us humans so he could have gone away and worked on some other projects for millions of years before coming back 6,000 years ago and produced Adam and then took a rib from Adam to create a dishwasher. Just another joke there. Adam had a T-Rex he road everywhere to check on his herds of Brontosaurs with his trusty white tiger, Emanuel. God left this out of the official canon. Evolution is a just theory after all."
