Random Life Update #2
TFW you have too much stuff about MCU to put in just one post.
I thought that the Homestuck post was going to be the biggest one but I was wrong. I should've posted the third installment for the Fandom Challenge (Day 3: MCU) a week ago, but I haven't yet because:
- apparently my experience with MCU has phases like the damn franchise, and I lived each of them very differently. I keep losing track of the topic, and I tend to put in too much detail, which brings me to the next point:
- I keep second guessing myself over the amount of info I should put in the post. So far the draft contains the story of how I fell in love with a few of the movies, a way too detailed description of my exploration of the kink memes with attached kinks and a clear refuse to rec fanfiction, because-
- because my bookmarking system is a mess. I once had a neatly organized account on delicious, then delicious died per yahoo acquirement (as usual), and I sort of piled everything in a pinboard account (back then when it wasn't ridiculously expensive). On top of that, it's filled with Asgardian fics, because all the decent Stony are in my subscription page. Which is straight up hell. No other word to describe it.
And after a day spent wrangling russian vocaboulary, the last thing I feel like doing is organizing pinboard tags and/or re-editing a shitty draft.
I don't know if I should reschedule MCU to be on the LAST day and put the other (lighter and less-fanfic packed) fandoms first, or just take my time and go in order.
I probably will do a separate rec-post anyway, because it would make the Challenge entry too voluminous.
I was going to ask my professor to be my supervisor for the dissertation but I chickened out. The excuse is that I will start out officially to work on it in October; the actual reason is that this week, as expected, kicked my ass. My schedule is awful and I already know that it will take an embarrasingly long time to get used to it.
On the bright side, my own plan for revision seems to be working. I already am learning new words (one of my greatest weaknesses- I have a shit memory), and I am re-learning things that I had forgotten. In a week or so I should be ready for the next step- which is to read fanfiction in Russian. That will be fun. Like repeatedly crushing your big toe against the door while you go to the bathroom. I'll probably have five new NOTPs by the end of the month.
(My reasoning behind this is that I ACTUALLY LEARNED ENGLISH BY READING FANFICTION, SO IT MUST WORK WITH RUSSIAN TOO, RIGHT? .... right???)
I attempted and succeded to make a 3-color gradient on my nails for the first time today. It's still a little wobbly but I'm RIDICULOUSLY proud of it, so have a shitty filtered pic

1) OH NO D: luckily I managed to export everything just in time, but then I crammed the whole thing in pinboard without organizing first and- yeah. It pretty much stayed like that. It's really too bad that delicious was killed like that, it was a life saver back when the kink memes were my main source for fanfiction. /raises a glass
2) Hhh thanks! I hope I manage to edit it down to a less rambley and more interesting reading lmao. I agree, the draft feature is really useful! I've been using it too, even if I back up every post on OneNote because you never know... The thing I like the most about it is the blocky, colorful notification on your dashboard! It's really impossible to forget about it.
3) Thanks! I've attempted 2-colors gradients before, but they always came out pretty messy. I think the problem was that I did them too quickly. This time I had a little more time on my hands, so I could do it properly :) I think the trick is to work in layers. It's a little time-consuming as you need to let it dry at least a little before dabbing the next layer on, but the result is much better! Nothing to compare with my usual rush job in between classes!
