Jamali meets the largest Neo-Nazi group in America.

Viceland is running a series on hate groups from around the world hosted by British comedian Jamali Maddix. This part of the series is on the National Socialist Movement, the largest neo-Nazi movement in the US.

sigh Kudos for exploring the ugliness I don't want to think about, but boo for further legitimizing this stuff.
Can't we come up with a name for hate groups like white supremacists to strip them of their pride? Like "butt pickers"? "Whale erections"?
"Ankle tumors"? "Calf implants"?
Is documenting a group really legitimizing them? I think the whole point of getting a comedian (especially a mixed race one) to do this show is to make this kind of bigotry laughable. I doubt anyone who wasn't already a hard-core racist came away from this thinking "hey, maybe these Nazis aren't so bad after all". They come off as rather absurd, with a twisted worldview that they have a hard time justifying even to themselves. Except that one Nazi woman who said she wanted to kill all the Jews. Holy shit, lady.
Is "Nazi" or "racist" not enough? They certainly don't like being called either of those things.
I think documenting a group is legitimizing them, yeah. Similar to how you appear to feel about Milo Yiannopoulos. Maybe I misinterpreted your stance though.
"Nazi" and "racist" are what they are. They never seem too upset when either name is brought up to describe them. But maybe I haven't seen what you have seen. But my understanding is that they don't distance themselves from Nazi ideologies (just looking at their affinity for swastikas).
But hey. What do I know?
I don't think "documenting" Milo is the problem. I think the problem is responding to his provocations. He feeds off the indignation of the left. It's like his entire shtick.
In this episode, the NSM leader and members say they don't like to be called "Nazis" ("I prefer National Socialist" he says. "Fuck 'em, they're Nazis. They don't get to pick what I call 'em." says Jamali). And they apparently don't think they are "racist" or "White supremacist". It's why the KKK is trying to rebrand themselves as a "White civil rights group". Patently ridiculous, obviously. But it's kind of funny when they have to do this sort of mental gymnastics in order to justify their ideology.
