Let Toys be Toys

Today my three year old son, while watching Arkadius Kul, had his first moment of being told dolls--specifically Monster High--were "just for girls." I knew it was coming, but I would like him to innocenly enjoy both my dolls and his own, including a range of mini-hims I made for him, without being shamed, for just a little bit longer.
We told him it was a very silly thing for the daddy on the show to say, but it feels like the beginning.
So two things: first, I would like to promote the #LetToysBeToys hashtag, a movement to end unnecessary gendering of toys.
And second--here is one of my boy's favourite Monster Highs, the fabulous rainbow unicorn zombie, Neighthan Rot.

Sigh... When I was young I played with Barbies, He-Man, MLP, GI-Joe, Transformers, etc. (BTW I'm female) But women doing "guy" things isn't always considered negative. It's frustrating, I'm not a parent, but if I was I wouldn't care what toys they played with.
We made a conscious decision not to do any No, it's for boys nonsense. And because I love dolls, so does he. I'm always terrified, really, that being lesbian moms, we are vulnerable to the being told it's because of lack of male role models, but he plays with so-called boys' toys as well. And I won't give into my fears on this, because boys should be nurturing and do pretend play too.
