For me my predictions might be a bit wild but I think only 4 teams will be directly invited and 12 qualifiers spots -- 2 for each region (they added south america and CIS as regions now) This might sound way too generous but maybe it could be the start of something amazing.
I think the invites will be EG, OG, DC, and Liquid the only teams to win the big LANs as of recently it makes sense why they all deserve direct invites. And also dota is also at a weird place where we just had a huge 7.00 patch and there probably needs to be more games played (qualifiers) to determine who should show up to Kiev.
I wouldn't disagree with that analysis. It is a bit odd though, as I imagine Valve chose 3 Major's this year as to not mimic last years extremely crowded tournament schedule, yet seems their has only been two major international tournaments: Starladder and the previous one held in Malaysia. Other then that, most of these tournaments have been fairly local-Elimination mode, for example, only really included the US and EU. To a certain extent, it leaves the Chinese teams out to dry.
