I have said the most banal shit because I don't want other people's posts to go unanswered. Hopefully people haven't noticed that my commentary has about as much content as your average click-bait article.
I'm starting to feel like I'm getting back into the swing of things, though. It's been so ridiculously long since I've been in namespace, much less as a moderator.
Oh, hey, US nonnies who've gotten an Imzy shirt, about how long did it take to get it after you won it? And did they send it by mail or something else?
I've got a thing to go to this evening from the apprenticeship I'm starting in September. On the one hand, free food, grilling, yay! On the other hand, leaving the house, meeting new people... eek.
Also I've got this porny podfic I'm recording today as soon as my roommate leaves for work. >:D
Just when FFA finds Imzy, I get off my butt and start tracking FFA in email. And oh my god. Except for the broken threading (thanks Dreamwidth), it's like having Usenet back again. I may never surface from the stream of lovely, lovely emails again. Sorry Imzy, it's been nice knowing' ya, but you're too web for this 90's internet girl!
A mutual whose fic I like and who likes my fic asked for a beta, I volunteered, and it seems like we are perfectly matched to help each other get a bit better. :3
I started a comm for my (pretty small) fandom, but I'm feeling a bit lost and I don't know where to start to build a nice community... What did you do in your new comms, nonnies? Do you have any advice for a first time mod?
Promote it here, promote it on meme, promote it on /imzy. Spread the news around!
Once you get a few more users, try to generate content and comments: write an into post, make polls... I don't know what fandom your community is about, but it's a movie/tv show you could try a rewatch or episode discussions, for example.
Not a comm mod yet, but is there a poll question you could post (fave character, episode, whatever)? Could you maybe start doing a "quote/gif/image/rec of the day" type post? I think it's good to get some low-pressure content going where people can just click a poll option or the like button instead of feeling like they have to come up with a whole long thoughtful comment to respond; it shows the comm is active, hopefully encouraging people to join, and means you can take some time over coming up with longer more involved discussion-type posts instead of sitting there trying to come up with something in the middle of an "Oh, God, the terrible, echoing silence!" panic.
I feel like /Sorkinverse (not my comm, but one I've joined) is doing a nice job of humming along by doing daily quotes and things, which just helps to give the impression that stuff is happening and there are other people around.
My fandom is going okay. I seem to have stumbled into being friends with an Actual Author in one of them, but they're choosing not to reveal their name, so I don't know exactly who I've stumbled into? It's an intriguing mystery.
Writing has recommenced. The true test will be when this chapter is done and I ask a reader where they think I stopped for a hiatus.
I haven't tried making a comm yet so I don't know how that works, but are you maybe looking at it through some sort of preview function? Because spoiler code doesn't show up correctly when you preview it in a comment - it just looks like a non-spoilered quote until it's actually published to the site. (Not good for my "aargh, is that gonna work or not?" paranoia, I can tell you. But at least we have comment editing here.)
Oh, that might have been it then! Yeah, I was using the preview function because I didn't want to save the changes, go look at the published page, realize I'd have to change it, and then go back to the page settings (which takes multiple clicks to get to...)
I get the perfect bingo card from 2016 season of kink for my favourite paring, but I haven't written anything yet. Hopefully I will remedy it by next Monday. I have stopped writing for so long that I'm scared I forget how to write though. :/
I have finally acquired a copy of Sports Night on DVD! I have wanted to own this show forever (I used to be in West Wing fandom back in the day, so there was a lot of fandom crossover and I read a ton of the fic) but it was never released in region 2, and by the time I got around to halfway thinking about getting a multi-region player it always seemed to be going for stupid prices with import fees on top. But I checked eBay for it on a whim last week when something reminded me of it, and got the complete series box set for under £20! Woo.
...Now I just have to find some time to actually watch it. And also the thirty other shows that I've bought on DVD over the last ten years that I'm definitely gonna watch any day now, honest.
Oh, like you're one to talk! Do you know how much time poor Harvey spends worrying over you? If Wilbert doesn't want to be doorstepped, he should stop lying on the ground in front of my front door.
I got a new phone recently, and it turns out the newer versions of the stock android contacts app both doesn't allow storing contacts locally, and doesn't have contacts groups.
I've managed to find a way to have locally stored contacts, but every app I've tried for groups requires me to either link a Google account or create a new account with that app to store my contacts on the cloud. Whyyyyy.
I found a beta app that was specifically for being lightweight and adding groups... But it only works with Google contacts, not local ones. urgh.
Does anybody have any solutions/app suggestions? I've got a Moto G4 running Android marshmallow.
Trying to encourage activity in my comm is reminding me of how hard it is for me to come up with responses to things. >_< Ugh.

I've always sucked at figuring out what to say even when I've been in active in namespace recently. :(
I think that a lot of the time, the sheer fact that someone has responded is enough to elevate a comment.
Mind you, I think that about other people's comments. Mine just look like a load of hot air.

My hotel is a pokestop. I am in heaven.
Such luck.
I need someone to kick me into finishing my Rare Pairs fic, sigh.
**\o/** You can do it!
Thanks, nonny!
Gooooo, nonnie, goooo! You can do it!
Thanks for the encouragement! I've written 1.5k and it's in the final stretch now.

Yay, that's great!
I found an old forum account I used to use for RPing and socializing and I'm reading some of our old threads. So much nostalgia.

Suddenly plagued with doubt about a fic I'm writing. D:
Can somebody remind me what the spoiler code is? :/ I can't find it anywhere.
It's
>!at the beginning of the spoiler paragraph.
Does this just not work in the comm rules page? It's been driving me crazy.

If it's not that then I got nothin', sorry.

Ugh, I can't believe how hard it is to reply to things! Especially with a name?!
So much work in my fannish space.
At least you have the proper respect for Phoebe, though.
Whereas you should really leave poor Wilbert alone.
Oh, like you're one to talk! Do you know how much time poor Harvey spends worrying over you? If Wilbert doesn't want to be doorstepped, he should stop lying on the ground in front of my front door.
Someone who isn't me should create a Hatoful Boyfriend comm hint hint hint

Maybe you could download an older version of the stock contacts app? Apk mirror should have Google contacts.
