What non-English bands do you like, nonnies? I always want to expand my music horizons.

I adore Maximum the Hormone (there might still be a few vids lurking about on Youtube), SHINee (poppy & dancey - I saw them live, and holy fuck, what fantastic showmen), Doll$boxx, and I'm grwoing more and more fond of Babymetal.

I have just listened to Yoshu Fukushu by Maximum the Hormone, and there is an interesting mix of almost childish female vocal, rap, rock sounds that I haven't expected. I will check up the other bands you mentioned too. Thanks for the rec!

Maximum the Hormone's Buiikikaesu, Koi no Mega Lover, Bikini Sports Ponchin are also great (and Zetsubou Billy and What's Up People were used for the anime Death Note)

Sigur Rós! A delightful mix of Icelandic and their own made-up language.

    • AnonJackCadenceOct 03, 2016 at 5:40 AM

I really like songs with invented language and the sound of their is really interesting. Thanks for your rec!

Oh hey, nice! I like the sound of them a lot--they remind me a little of Nightwish...with one of their lead singers, can't remember which one, lol.

I actually discovered it on a Reddit post that asks for music like Nightwish, and find that I really enjoy it. Another Japanese metal/folk band I have found with very good female vocal is Onmyo-Za . Here is an examnple: https://youtu.be/3DcF0FjtdCs?list=PLbB_u5MN3vcMS3Vd9vCRKAVv_17CrnjxJ

I was just coming here to rec Onmyouza, they're amazing!

        😁

Wagakki Band! Especially recced for the Onmyouza and Babymetal fans here: high-energy hard rock with soaring female vocals and a strong fantasy-historical visual image, but with a bit less of a metal sound and with the addition of traditional Japanese instruments and vocal stylings.

    Ikusa

Spyair and Man With A Mission

    • AnonJackCadenceOct 03, 2016 at 5:49 AM

Both of their songs are really energetic and catchy, and I like these two bans both.
