Fic Research Question
Anybody ever have a broken jaw that had to be wired? How much talking can you actually do? How do you handle eating? Google is not being helpful.
Cheers.

I had a friend whose jaw was wired shut. Clench your jaw shut and then try saying something. You can talk, but it's rather unintelligible. Eating needs to be liquid -- smoothies, shakes, smoothies.
Thanks!
4-6 weeks of smoothies would, I think, lend itself to significant weight loss too, no matter how many supplements you add?
Yes. Liquid diets do not tend to be very filling. Smoothies CAN be high calorie, and iirc she was in touch with a nutritionist during that time. It's also pretty boring.
Here's something that might be of help: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/16044e/my_jaw_was_broken_in_half_and_had_to_be_wired/
There are more links to threads with second- and first-hand experiences on Reddit of people who've had broken and wired jaws. If you specify the site they're easier to find (e.g. like this: https://www.google.nl/search?q=site%3Areddit.com%20jaw%20wired%20shut)
I hope this is of some use to you.
Thank you!
You're welcome :)
My first thought was about Sidney Crosby, but I don't think his jaw had to be wired. Hmm...
