A place to talk about anything Fantasy related. Really it can be anything from books, video games, artwork to film!
Coming up with monthly reading themes
I am thinking to start suggesting monthly reading themes for the community. I think it will be a great way to explore more literature within the genre. For now I am thinking of each month having a specific theme and I can look up around 5 books that fit in with that theme as reading suggestions. But you don't have to stick to them!
Some themes I have in mind so far are: foreign authors, female authors, authors new to the scene (so like first publication). Along with various kinds of fantasy like urban fantasy or high fantasy.
Do you guys have any suggestions for what to add?
(also I want to thank @longooglite and @MrBGone for the idea!)

Authors of color, maybe.
Self published.
Published before 1980 or after 2015.
Graphic novel.
Maybe atypical timeframe? Like, it can't be urban fantasy or take place in someplace that looks a lot like medieval Europe.
I'm really glad you're going forward with this, and would love to help out any way I can!
Those are great ideas! Hopefully I can get something put together for June. Its still early in the month!
Those sound good! What about reading some old mythology or classical fantasy (think Beowulf or The Odyssey or something of the like) or we could check out novels translated from other languages within the fantasy genre.
ooh, those both sound great, but I especially like the idea of translations. Aside from The Grace of Kings, any suggestions?
No idea was planning on doing copious amounts of googling. Haha
Oh I did just think of one series. The Witcher (yes the one from the video game) series was originally published in Polish.
Fantasy video games could be a monthly discussion in and of themselves. Either one month the theme is "play a video game" or every month we have a discussion "we all tried to play this one game or series." Final Fantasy, Harvest Moon, Pokemon, The Witcher, the Elder Scrolls, etc.
That would be cool. But yeah I was referring to the novels specifically in this case.
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke was originally German. :)
I don't think The Grace of Kings was translated, but there's...
Also I read a pretty decent fan translation of "Legend of the White-Haired Demoness" by Liang Yusheng.
