Favorite Dragon Species
Because in the last poll I left out dragons so I figured I would do one specifically for them. :)
Also feel free to share your favorite dragon story!

I chose "Other" but I wanted to say "All of the above"!
All of the above? I am in love with dragons in general and the fact that there are so many differences between the types/kinds/species only means I have more dragons to play with ;)
I voted for Chinese dragons because, as a child, I imbued them with all sorts of mystical wonder and excitement and took them wholesale into my daydream worlds. They seemed both mighty and benign, unlike how European dragons were presented in the books and stories I had access to at the time. My mother's mah jong set, the marvellous 'gong' we had that featured a bronze-coloured Chinese dragon curled around it, and the fact I was born in the year of the dragon all contributed to this fascination.
Favourite Chinese dragon story? In my late teens I discovered the newly released Tea with the Black Dragon and later on its sequel, Twisting the Rope, by R A MacAvoy. They are probably a little dated now in style, but they walk the line between urban fantasy and magic realism in a way I love. They feature an older protagonist, her quiet but still enthralling adventures, and her friendship with the Black Dragon himself, of course, who is just perfect.
*Tea with the Black Dragon fan fistbump*
My favorite type of dragon is Pernese dragons from Anne McCaffery's Dragonriders of Pern series. They were created to protect the planet from Thread, a dangerous material that destroys ask living matter it touches. Riders impress the dragons when they hatch and they're bound as soul mates for life.
Just in case some of you haven't read it yet (just kidding, I'm not trying to shame anyone here), please consider the excellent series of four books (five in April 2017 it seems) from Marie Brennan, "A Natural History of Dragons" :)
you can't beat the modern flying lizard breathing fire over towns
