A place to talk about anything Fantasy related. Really it can be anything from books, video games, artwork to film!
I make fantasy comics and thought I'd share some with you guys

This is from my light urban fantasy series Ramen Empire. Here are some snippets. I'd love your thoughts and comments!
If it seems like it's up your alley, it lives at ramen-empire.com and at Tapastic.
I also make a meta fantasy about tabletop RPGs:
And that lives at the same sites in slightly different places, Tapastic and Ramen Empire.
Thanks for reading. Again, I'd love your thoughts. And I'm looking forward to geeking out in this community!

Confession: I have never played tabletop RPGs. How do you even start?
*Welcome btw!!! We are glad to have you. 😊
Tabletop RPGs are more accessible now than they have ever been before, mostly because of the internet.
I suggest starting with 5e -- which is shorthand for 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons. You can find everything you need to play with the free materials -- start here: https://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules.
There are obviously pirated sets of the books floating around as PDFs, but Wizards of the Coast does a good job competing with those, making questions answerable without committing to a purchase -- and the books are genuinely worth the money. (And they're designed so that, as they wear out, it's trivial to take them to a print shop and have them rebound.)

You need some friends who also want to play, and everyone except the DM (Dungeon Master -- the person who is giving the world details) can get by with nothing but the basic rules or the player's handbook, which is an expanded version of the basic rules.
Basically, your DM comes up with some situations designed out of the Monster Manual and the Dungeon Master Guide (or straight out of his / her head!) and the players construct a narrative around that situation.
The best way to start is to plan a time to meet, and if everyone is new, just roll with it and learn together. If you have one or two veterans in the group, let them guide you on the more detail oriented questions about character creation.

D&D is a D20 system, which stands for 20-sided dice system. At its core, every situation is resolved by rolling a D20, applying numbers from your character sheet (or elsewhere), and seeing if you pass certain checks. Pass or fail, the story goes onward. It's a bit writing a novel outloud with your friends, and there is a dice and a referee making sure no one is too powerful, too weak, or the permanent center of attention.
If you have any questions about tabletop gaming, let me know! I try to be helpful in those circles.
