Contributor community profile?
I created a restricted community and chose to use my real name as the primary profile. When I did that, it asked if I wanted the entire community to use their real names.
I thought about this awhile and decided that people who are only reading and commenting will probably not want to always use their real names or comment completely anonymously. However, I do want the approved contributors to use their real names in order to help build credibility for the com.
Members can surely join a community intent on becoming a contributor so they'll associate their real name, but I'm betting that as the community ages new contributors will most often be members who have interacted with the community for awhile and didn't think ahead to associated their real name.
We don't want people to change user names, so perhaps a separate profile could be created, with a clickable bio that gives a brief overview of credentials, their other username, and maybe their most recent posts?
I'd also expect approved contributors to moderate the comments they generate, so they'd also need the ability to comment as their real name in their own posts, but restricted from it in others, unless they're a leader and speaking officially.

Hm this is a really interesting usecase!
I really like the idea of your new community and wanna help you make it work. Lemme talk to folks around the office and brainstorm about this a bit.
I feel like it would be reasonable for "real name" to stay a separate selectable identity option even after you've associated a profile with a comm, the same way you can still switch between your chosen profile and anonymous at will. It's a different situation to operating two pseudonyms at once.
Then you could cover jammin's case by separating out the posting permissions into two individual settings, one for contributors posting entries directly to the comm and one for commenters replying to posts. So something like this:
(I guess the "entries" setting would have to cover replies to your own entries as well, in order to prevent the situation of people being permitted to make a post but not comment under it afterwards.)
This is a really interesting idea. I'd have to talk to the database team to see if it would be (reasonably) possible, and also think through potential other ramifications/conflicts.
Also, nice use of the markdown chart 💯
I'll admit I did have to Google the code, having forgotten how to do it.
Awesome suggestions and chart @AnonDolliesMaya!
Thanks for looking into this @greenie! I hope you don't tire of my feedback. :-P
