How I convinced the world you can be raped by your date - BBC News

How I convinced the world you can be raped by your date - BBC News

Katie Koestner was 18 when she went on a date with a fellow college student - and was forced to have sex. In 1990 the idea that you could be raped on a date was not widely understood, but Koestner went public with her story and - as she explains here - the concept of "date rape" took root for the first time.

It's pretty disgusting how marital rape as well is not taken as seriously as it should be.

What a brave woman, I respect her so much. These are the people who make change happen.

It's unclear but did her rapist get punished at all? The university found him "responsible".. But what does that mean? Was it only that he couldn't go in her residence anymore?...

The article does a really good job of illustrating rape culture as well.
