social justice league chats
What Communities have you guys found that are worth joining?
I really hope after the Beta ends (in about six weeks) this place lasts the test of time. The ideas behind Imzy really appeal to me and hopefully if this place is properly moderated Imzy will remain largely nice place (unlike a certain website).
Anyways I'm curious what communities you guys have found (or founded) that are worth joining; as of right now my feed is pretty dead (which is to be expected) save for the Fempire so I'd like to find some additions so my feed can be a little more active.
Additional Question: just out of curiosity do you guys have any ideas for potential communities which you are considering founding or feel should be founded? The only community I'd particularly like to see made right now is one for Aspies.

Check out /happy (i made this one)
Also /lets_grab_coffee is fun to just chat with people
I also like /interest_intrigue
I hope we stand the test of time too, the more of you who help us will really help us stay alive! Please invite friends and participate!
Thanks for the mention! We'd love for more people to come and chat with us! at /lets_grab_coffee :)
You inspired me to create a /kindness community. Thank you @Eilis .
Wow! That's so awesome! And thank you :) I'm going to come join! /kindness
You are very welcome! And I appreciate that you joined. :)
Joined lets_grab_coffee, will try and jump in some discussions on that later!
Hooray!
I made /just_post because imzy needed a place to post!
OK, I'll promote this in our social media! You promote it to EVERYONE ELSE! 😄
Here ya go! https://twitter.com/imzyhq/status/727607479924871169
aww hell yeah lets just post yall
It doesn't have anyone but me, yet, but I made a community, /worldbuilding, for people who like to create new places! I hope it takes off, since that's one of my favorite hobbies.
Joined! I generally stick to realistic and modern settings for my writing, but I'd love to learn more about world-building!
Awesome! Glad to have you. I typically stick to cyberpunk and sci Fi, with some industrial era stuff thrown in for kicks. It's not all magic and fantasy! ;)
If you're feeling the need to be smug, circlebroke has a a community here: https://www.imzy.com/circlebroke
I'll admit, even though I've worked at reddit for many years, I don't even know what /circlebroke is
It's like Depth Hub meets SRS. Where SRS is traditionally just highlighting shitty comments (just a link and vote count), Circlebroke traditionally go into great depths about how shitty the comments are. Example: https://www.reddit.com/r/circlebroke/comments/4ha3ob/reuropean_brigades_an_ama_with_their/
Edit: also SRS admin cabal confirmed.
Basically SRS Lite with long effort posts.
ququ
Wouldn't that make it SRS Heavy?
It's called SRS lite because they're less progressive.
Just a joke haha.
That definitely applies to SRD (afaik the original "SRS lite"). I'm not sure I'd say the same of circlebroke. It always struck me as being pretty similar, and to be honest I think the user base is pretty much the same anyway.
Hooray! When I joined last week, it was one of the first communities I looked for and you weren't there yet. So. happy.
I manage https://www.imzy.com/twoxchromosomes - consider us a snarky, smug ally!
/nail_polish is good
/lgbt, /transgender and /nonbinary are all looking okay so far.
/euphoria is something
/reads and /lets_grab_coffee are a couple of my favs, but with the former I'm rather biased because I started that community :p
I like reads too. I feel like everything posted there I don't have time to read and am saddened by that.
Hooray! :) I just joined /reads
/euphoria is more than "something"
it is the greatest community ever tbh
I'm pretty excited about the Body Positive Women's Fitness that just got created.
/offbeatbride and /offbeathome aren't super active yet, but I'm in love with them.
And if you like food (because really, who doesn't?), I'm a fan of:
You're always better at this than I am @kaela.
First time I've seen Giphy really work with its prompt.
oh god can we not do the awful "thingporn" board name thing from reddit so we can tell our friends about a cool place to look at maps without sounding like a weirdo
Hahaha. Agreed. I'm not a fan. Also because looking at pictures of delicious food without links to how to get/make said food depresses me.
If you are into true crime please join my community at TrueCrime. I made this community because I'm interested in this genre, solving mysteries, and cold cases.
For stuff I didn't create, they have a circlebroke imzy up and it's nice. :)
/it_happened_to_me_today is sort of like a positive spin on "Today I Fucked Up."
/science and /nottheonion are doing well, as well.
I'm leading a few other communities as well, but... different profiles.
It's going to take a bit for most communities to really get going, but please keep at it, it WILL come together, we see the numbers every day and they're growing every day.
Your mention of it being a "more positive spin on TIFU" really made me realize that a lot of what makes reddit so bad is the excessive vulgarity. Like, I spent the last few years in Boston, swearing doesn't bother me but its so unnecessary most of the time and redditors will eat up any vapid drivel that is full of cursing and condescension.
TIFU is particularly bad. If it's written like erotica, there's a 80% chance it will be upvoted over 100. Similarly if it's marked as NSFW for whatever reason, it's more likely to get upvoted. It's a good indication that the average age of redditors is continually getting younger
/twoxchromosomes is a pretty nice one so far, mostly due to HellIsRoundTheCorner posting plenty of stuff.
Thank you!
If any ladies would like to join us, we're a community for female perspectives and experiences. Stupid, smart, silly, serious - we got it all. It's like Galentine's Day every day.
I'm surprised that community still kept it's name, honestly... It's kind of exclusionary. :/
Yeah, it kinda is. :( It's still a fine place for trans women, though.
Yeah, it's a very trans-supportive space.
If you like fashion I made the /fashion community for anyone interested! (I disliked the separation of malefashion - womensfashion... Etc on a certain other site)
I was going to post some social media about this but you didn't have any artwork on it :(
Yeah working on that. It's rather difficult to find 3 images that encompass all of fashion lol. Eventually I'm hoping the header will be users outfits but I'm struggling with the icon.
Maybe you should go with like, different fashion themes every month ... start with Avante Garde (the only thing I know about fashion is from Project Runway).
I'll try to figure something out and I'll shoot you a message once it looks more finished.
I'm dan@imzy.com
Now theres pictures for all of them!
On the topic of communities we'd like to see, I'd love a recovering alcoholics support and fun community (or just one for nondrinkers in general). I already spent my two slots for creating new communities, but if another sober soul is reading this, I'd encourage you to start one!
I have a wish list of communities I want to create or join. It's already up in the 20s...
I'm glad they're limiting us at first, to prevent people from overextending themselves and quickly becoming leaders of dozens of communities. But at the same time, I share your wish of creating a couple more than the original two slots.
/amalanetwork hoping to see more people around there, deals with social justice, politics, internet culture, gaming, all primarily focusing on the harmful aspects, boosting voices of those in need, celebrating those trying to bring positive change, stuff like that.
I just found /introductions which at our current size is quite nice! pop in and say hi there!
I haven't made it public yet, but I opened /hardcorepunk for fans of punk and hardcore music.
I'll be joining you once it's ready!
I published the community.
That's so hardcore.
I was planning on making my own Dota 2 but when I searched it there was already a /dota_2 it seems like a much more friendly place then the reddit counterpart which appeals to me.
I'm still thinking of making a new Dota 2 community on here that doesn't tolerate hatred that usually will make it to the front of Dota 2 reddit. I also want to have it have a ton of information, like a professional game tracker, posts of game updates, tournament threads, etc. I want it to be a much much more friendly community but I can't just wish for these things and do nothing about it, I have to start somewhere. If anyone else plays the game and wants to help me with this then I would appreciate extra help, and of course if you want to try your hand at Dota 2 it's free on steam
Fate_Axyom
The only really active communities on my feed atm are this one and circlebroke (for obvious reasons), and Lets grab coffee.
I've gone through and found an imzy version of most of my favorite subreddits and for most shows/fandoms I like, but none seem to be very active yet.
That's why we need people like you! We've just barely started out and most of our communities are really small. You'll be the ones to decide if they live and end up growing really huge or if they die off, based on whether you start posting or not. If everyone waits for someone else to post, our communities won't end up very successful. :/
Shameless plug, but join me in /aesthetic for vaporwave, memes, and fun times. I'll be like that one time the Fempire took over circlejerk.
For any whiskey lovers, I created /whiskey
I'm trying to get /india going, for Indian news and discussion stuff.
I'm gonna plug my /sims For anything related to the series
dunno. i just wanna shitpost First Kill on /metal before the inevitable blacklist goes up. :^)
i made /college_basketball for well, i guess, fans of college basketball. i don't really know too much about designing banners or stuff like that so it looks pretty bad
