What Is Toxic Masculinity?
What Is Toxic Masculinity?
You may have bumped into the term toxic masculinity during your travels around the internet. It usually shows up in connection with particularly abusive male behavior, but what does it really mean? In this episode we take a closer look at the term using Biff from Back To The Future as our example.
Good video (minus the creepy clips from Bond). Personally I would have liked to have seen a more comprehensive analysis, but this is certainly good for beginners.
Possible rebuttal: ‘You were never a real man, so you’re clueless about masculinity!’ (Approximately identical to what a woman would receive. Kind of like saying you were never really a Christian, you were never really a propertarian libertarian &c.)
Also good to see that he closed the comment section and the approval rating. Of course, the free sheep will claim that their shitposts were actually good‐faith criticisms all along.

I like the video. It kind of panders a bit I think when highlighting the differences between toxic masculinity and masculinity but I think it balances out and all in all I think it is a good way to get skeptical men on board with the idea. Those Bond clips though, yikes! Really gross. I remember the first time I saw it on tv or something and even though I was 12 or something I still remember being like "WTF?"
I am not seeing what was wrong with how he clarified the difference between toxic masculinity and masculinity. If the term was just masculinity then when people hear it they would just think that being masculine is a bad thing, when that is not the issue. It's important to highlight the difference and saying "We as men, don't have to act this way to be men" It's and important distinction.
