all things f/f!
SF/F short story recs!
I really like short stories: compact, concise, low-commitment... Here are some of my favorite f/f ones. Anyone have any recs themselves?
The Cage by A. M. Dellamonica, featuring Canadian werewolves and a custody battle.
A Dead Djinn in Cairo by P. Djeli Clark, featuring an alternate-history magic Cairo, a butch special investigator with the Egyptian Ministry of Alchemy, angels, djinns, necromancers, cat-women and a really fun mystery.
The Effluent Engine by N. K. Jemisin, featuring steampunk New Orleans, a Haitian spy and a really efficient methane extractor (this is important).
Anyway: Angie, by Daniel José Older, featuring an older butch member of a crime syndicate grieving for her girlfriend, great noirish narration and a really creepy house.

AAH. I've had Dead Djinn on my to-read list for months and had no idea it included f/f.
Absolutely love Anyway: Angie, though, and The Cage tickled me friggin pink.
As for recs: Alyssa Wong's Hungry Daughters of Starving Mothers was absolutely delicious (no pun intended) (actually I recommend all of Wong's work, she is my queer Asian horror hero).
Oh, wow, I loved Hungry Daughters of Starving Mothers! The imagery in it is so visceral. I really like Jen and Aiko's relationship (she's trying to keep her at arm's length! but secretly she loves her!) but also I will completely 100% roll around in the monstery heap of awful souls that is Jen/Seo-yun (older seductive predatory woman trying to mold Jen in her image!).
STOP YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE ME GO READ IT AGAIN
Ooh, thank you for the recs!
Ooh, thank you!
Mostly fantasy, but so far I've liked Bridget Essex's stories, especially The Protector. Hot, burly, secretly supernatural bodyguards? Sign me up!
!!! Everything in that list (hot! burly! secretly supernatural! bodyguards!) is super relevant to my interests, I must read this at once.
It's very tropey <3 The author said she's writing the second book of the series, fingers crossed!
I don't have any recs myself, but I LOVE The Cage so I'm looking forward to checking out some of your other faves.
The Cage is so good! Like it has a really strong plot and interesting sci-fi things but it's also very much a romance and centered around that relationship, which makes it satisfying as a love story, too. Hits me in the same spot as fanfic.
