      Yes. He actually did this a lot. Many of the old masters did this. I have copied other artists as well. I find it to be an interesting way to learn.

        Of course, I should mention that I do not sell these copies. I only do it to try to learn new techniques.

        Hiroshige's for that diagonal thing that the Japanese do on their canvases, and the way the way the sudden downpour is depicted. I find Van Gogh's rendition unnecessarily bright.

        I also like Hiroshige's. I find the sharp lines more appealing. I do like the coloring of the water in Van Gogh's though. I feel like it has more depth.
