The Plan: Breathe New Life into Old Tech
So... I've kinda been wanting to get back to playing with a tablet more often (mostly for those days when I don't feel like getting out of bed). While I could honestly use a newer version of the device all around, my Asus Transformer TF300 still technically works, but it's painfully outdated.
Asus stopped Android OS updates at Jellybean (4.2.1) for this particular model. Luckily, there are ROMs available to update to at least Lollipop now (I didn't check to see if there's anything beyond that, seeing as I've only recently woke up and haven't had any coffee).
This, of course, means that I'll need to root the device in order to install the ROM, but that's nothing new to me. I've done it before on a number of my old Android phones. I just didn't have much reason (until now) to do the same to the tablet.
I will, however, be waiting until I've woken up properly, because right now my sleep schedule is all over the freaking place again, and I'd really rather not crash the tablet beyond repair by accident simply because of a foolish mistake made while being drowsy.
So, yeah. That's the plan. Whether it happens today or a few days from now is a totally different story...
