CD Projekt Red Moves to Protect Itself From Hostile Takeover Bid
Polish developer/publisher CD Projekt has called an urgent meeting to protect itself from possible hostile makeover, according to Polish media sources. Thanks to Chrome translate, which is not perfect, but better than nothing I suppose, company management called for a meeting to take place on November 29.

I hope not... I like them just the way that they are.

Witcher 3 is a good representation of what this company has built up to. It would a shame to see them lose that fierce independent mindset. As an old school PC gamer I've seen too many smaller successful developers get lost in buyouts/mergers/takeovers. I hope that is not the case.
Also, a Hostile Takeover could potentially have negative implications for GoG as well, since CD Projekt Red also owns GoG.
I didn't even consider their publisher platform. That could potentially be devastating with how confusing some of those older game's licenses are.
Oh wow. They're publicly traded?!?! Damn.
Speaking of which - this is part of the reason why you avoid going public as much as possible.
Depends on the company and how the shares are allocated before your IPO. Certain countries protect gaming companies with special regulations.
It would be a terrible loss if this deal went through. CDPR is one of the good ones in market that's filled with terrible publishers.
