Gaming! So many games, not enough posts!
The first ever Imzy Gaming Awards!
Happy gaming awards season, Imzynauts!
This month, we'll be having the first ever Imzy Gaming Awards, a competition between games that you nominate and vote on!
Here are the categories we will be giving away awards in this year:
Game of the Year
The big one is awarded to the game released in 2016 that blew your socks off and sent them to Mars.
Indie Game of the Year
Not all great games have big budgets and huge distributors. This award goes to the best game of 2016 from a little studio that could.
Surprise of the Year
If a particular game exceeded your expectations to an extreme degree, it's probably a good candidate for this award.
Update of the Year
Some games live on for years and years by virtue of cult following, others thanks to great updates from the developers. This award goes to the best update, DLC, or expansion of 2016.
Player Character of the Year
Which character that you got to control in 2016 stole the show and stood above the rest? They deserve this award.
Enemy of the Year
This award goes to the antagonist from 2016 who best embodies the immortal words of Wes Mantooth: "I pure straight hate you... but damnit do I respect you!"
Rage-Inducing Character of the Year
Sometimes they are your ally, sometimes they are your adversary, but regardless, the winner of this award is the character that made you want to tear your hair out in 2016.
Most Anticipated Game of 2017
After reflecting on the past year of gaming excellence, let's gaze into the future. This award goes to the game scheduled to arrive in 2017 which most inspires you to wish for the power of time-travel.
Nominations
Please make your nominations in the comments by listing each category followed by your nominee in that category.
You can copy and paste this form into your comment for easy nominating. You don't need pick a nominee for each category if you can't think of a deserving one for some.

Fallout 4 came out in 2015! :)
Damn. So it did. I think I spent the first half of the year playing it, so I associated it with coming out this year.
Me, too! It came out in November and I probably didn't put it down until June, so it "feels" like a 2016 game.

Come on, Woodhouse - Do it anyway. :)
Lets light that fire under GabeN's chair, or no more heroin for you.

Game of the Year: Overwatch. It's just too much fun.

Update of the Year: Foundation Update, No Man's Sky
Holy balls.
I haven't really read about NMS except for the panicked screaming at release. What was this update all about?
I don't have the game, but my roommate does, and wow, it looks so fun now. You can look at the patch notes here: http://www.no-mans-sky.com/foundation-update/ , but basically they improved everything. Stuff looks better and is much more varied, so everything doesn't look the same. They made the game harder, added things like freighters and farming and base building. I think the best addition though is "survival mode," which is super difficult but also incredibly exciting. This update came after months of radio silence, so it was a bit of a surprise as well.

I wouldn't consider Planet Coaster as an indie game. Frontier Developement is a long lived developement studio by now.

Hitman (2016) or Overwatch
Indie Game of the Year:
Didn't play any this year
Surprise of the Year:
Dragon Quest Builders (didn't expect it to be so good)

Ana
Enemy of the Year:
Ana counts as an enemy too, right?
Rage-Inducing Character of the Year:
Hitman 2016: Elusive Target 13 The Ex-Dictator and his wife. Super tedious mission because whenever they walk into a new area that area automatically turns hostile to you.
Zelda Breath of the Wild or Monster Hunter Double Cross
Ana is really great, isn't she? I was scared about the removal of the speed boost to her ult, but it turns out she's still really good. Feels nice.

I need a hardware upgrade before I can reasonably try Dark Souls 3 or Dishonored 2, and not much else really caught my attention this year. This little game was a very pleasant and relaxing surprise.
Still going strong and getting better and better.
Rage-Inducing Character of the Year: Taimi in the new Guild Wars 2 living story season. I didn't like her before and positively loathe her now.
Most Anticipated Game of 2017: I don't think this counts since it's not an announced title, but I'm really hoping for a Monster Hunter game for the Nintendo Switch.
