'Tyranny' Is an RPG Where the Moral Choices Are Different Shades of Evil

Fantasy RPGs tend to come with a standard plot. A young hero learns they've got a destiny, masters their skills and fights an evil empire. Along the way, the hero meets interesting characters, learns lessons, and makes choices that impact the story. Often those choices are binary-one is blatantly evil the other blatantly good.

I played it a bit not sure how I feel, probably something I will come back to. It does run on Linux really well. Not sure if I like the combat though.

what do you think bothers you about the combat?

Just seems slow and kind of boring, I played for a half hour so take my opinion with a huge grain of salt. I just was not drawn in at that time, I have plans to play it again just been distracted by Rimworld and work.

Will pick it up much later when all the patches and addons (if any) roll out. Golden rule: don't buy big RPGs on launch. Especially those made by Obsidian.

This sounds amazing, cant believe i havent heard of it. Has anyone played this yet?

Combat-wise, this is very similar to Pillars of Eternity (also by Obsidian). The big difference is that you can craft your own spells.

But in terms of story? I'm about 20% into the game and already I can tell that there are many, many things that could change on another playthrough. If you want a game where your choices actually matter, this is definitely that game.

Agreed, I'm surprised as to how malleable the story seems to be - I mean I know that I'm not going to have entirely new maps, etc. on my next playthrough, but I feel that my choices will have a real impact - not entirely dissimilar to what Obsidian did with Alpha Protocol, actually
