Gaming! So many games, not enough posts!
Welcome to /Gaming! Please introduce yourself!
Hello, fellow gamers!
We're so happy to have you here on /gaming, the central hub of Imzy's gaming community network.
Before we get to the introductions, we do have a few simple rules here:
- Keep it civil
- Don't spam
- No piracy
Told you they were simple! Okay, on to the introductions!
In the comments, please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about the games you love to play! You should feel free to recommend Imzy gaming communities to other users based on their interests :)

I'm MisterWoodhouse and I head up all things Gaming here at Imzy HQ. My favorite game of all-time is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but I also have very special places in my heart for Destiny, the Elder Scrolls series, the Fallout series, World of Warcraft, the Battlefield series, and Pokemon.
Lately, I've been playing the following games:
If you're interested in those games, some of them have communities you should join!
The rest of my favorites also have communities!
Welcome to Imzy Gaming!!
Hi, I'm Saicred. Lover of all things gaming, and passionate about competitive gaming - /esports.
I currently play Overwatch, Hearthstone, CS:GO, and Rocket League. My all time favorite game has to be Delta Force: Land Warrior (Ranked 42nd in the world at one point in time). It was a simple FPS, but one I came to love playing for hours and hours. Close seconds are Everquest, and WoW as I lost myself for many years growing up in both these games.
That's about it! Short and sweet!
Hi guys, I'm Jordan! waves I love all things gaming, been playing since I was little and will continue to play as I grow old! I console play at the moment but looking at investing in a decent PC rig as I want to start streaming, I believe I have a lot I can offer and love the whole ethos of streaming! Games on my list at the moment are: Skyrim, tomb raider, battlefield 1, alien isolation and god of war to name a few!
Welcome, welcome! Nice list of good games there!
Welcome, Jordan!
Have you joined /skyrim and /battlefield?
You should also check out /adventures_of_lara_croft, our Tomb Raider community here!
Thanks! Joined them now! :)
Awesome!
Hello! I'm Ashley. I generally go for open-world, RPG, and action-adventure games with either a female protagonist or the ability to create my own female protagonist.
My favorite series/games include:
I'm currently playing Skyrim--I've had the base game modded a lot for a while now, so playing the SE felt like a downgrade, but all the hype around it got me hyped again. I keep most of my RPG adventures and character development under my fereldanwench moniker at this blog.
Welcome, Ashley!
You should check out the /masseffect community!
I'm really missing SkyUI in my Skyrim SE playthrough. Really too bad that it won't make it to consoles...
Hiya, Ashley!
Good to find another person who likes Saints Row! It's not like any sort of game I'd normally play; never been into GTA or shooters, really... but it's so unique and FUNNY. I've only played the 3rd one, but own the 2nd and 4th as well. (I own a lot of games, and rarely finish them. Bundles of games get me every time...)
Saints Row is so much fun! I picked up SR2 on during a PSN sale in 2012, and I was hooked after that. I did enjoy GTA3 and Vice City, but they series started to lose me a little when the stories became more "realistic." I love a good story and character development in some games, but in others, I just want to do awful, absurd things.
In terms of sheer fun, I think SR4 is my favorite, followed closely by SR3; SR4 is really just SR3 amped up with even more ridiculousness and SUPER POWERS. SR2 was a great introduction to the series and a worthwhile play, but in my opinion, I think you can kind of tell that they still weren't 100% sure what the series' overall tone should be. There's some heaviness to it that feels a little at odds with silliness.
I'll have to try playing the 4th, for sure! I have some friends who really like SR2, and dislike SR3 and SR4 in comparison. I'm probably going to end up feeling like you do, judging by how much I like the silliness in SR3.
Nice to meet you! :)
hyped_4_watchdogs_2_already_typing_with_underscores
Hack ALL teh things!
We don't seem to have a Watch Dogs community yet. Maybe you should make one! :)
JUST_MADE_ONE!
Awesome! Joining that! You should make a post over on /showcase to promote it!
Hi there! My name's Travis. I am mainly a Nintendo fan, but also play other console and iOS games. My favorite types of games are platformers (especially Nintendo franchises, but I'm also really looking forward to Yooka-Laylee), the Lego games, action RPGs such as Zelda (my favorite being A Link Between Worlds), JRPGs (especially SNES era), and on my phone I like to play mainly word and puzzle games.
Unfortunately between work and other stuff I don't really have that much time for gaming anymore, though I am currently enjoying the hell out of Paper Mario Color Splash.
SNES era JRPGs were the bomb. I played the hell out of Breath of Fire 1&2!
I'm mimiheart/mimiheart9 on most gaming places like twitch and steam. And fluffywhitething on this particular community because Imzy.
I love Mario. I used to speedrun Super Mario World, then certain things happened and I don't right now, really, but I can still kick the average person's ass... I think I'm still in the top 25 for 96 exit (which is the only category that matters). I just don't have the dexterity because of medical reasons to be able to run in the top ten anymore. Also there are new glitches and things that I've not learned.
I have photosensitive epilepsy, which kind of limits the games I play. Right now it's a LOT of nonograms/picross/griddlers whatever you want to call them. Because I'm a nerd.
I don't play MMORPGS because people are jerks. OMG IT'S GRIL! Yeah shut up.
I'm also currently replaying Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 because I got a new computer and it's bothering me that my full career was lost with my old computer.
Roller Coaster Tycoon was my jam back in the day! In middle school, my friend Sam and I created a custom steel roller coaster that set records for all of the ratings in the baseline stock game (i.e. no RCT Trainer mods).
It was called F-16 Dogfight and was a side-by-side simultaneous looped coaster that was 16 minutes station-to-station for the full loop, so 8 minutes per rider. That thing was completely insane.
RCT3 doesn't let you kill people. At least not in the same way that RCT2 did. But you can bork up coasters if you try and you can delete tracks while people are on them. This career mode I'm using cheats because I feel like it so I don't have maintenance issues and I'm throwing all of my maintenance workers into water so they're stuck swimming the entire episode. Sometimes I throw entertainers in there, too. So there's a guy in a panda suit treading water for months on end. (Also because of the cheat he's perfectly happy doing it.)
That roller coaster sounds amazing.
Okay, the guy in the panda suit constantly treading water sounds really funny, in a completely twisted way that I'm totally OK with!
:)
Hi there!
Nonograms are a ton of fun. :) I mostly play them on mobile, though I often ponder buying myself a nonogram game on Steam that I saw once. (If you'd like, I can try to track down the title.)
Are you able to play Minecraft? It's pretty awesome, but I admit I don't know how it reacts with photosensitive epilepsy, hence the question. I looked it up, but couldn't find a definitive answer.
Nice to meet you!
I probably could play minecraft if it interested me at all. After years of watching my children play it mostly just annoys me. I find nonograms on my phone screen to be annoying because they're just too small. I've only found three on Steam. One was free, and I have it. One I played through the demo, and it looks okay, but not worth the $10 they're asking for it. The other is a Mosaic Fantasy game I think, which I already have from another seller. Big Fish games has a bunch, and they go on sale for $3 fairly often, or you could have so many credits built up it doesn't matter.
Ah, that's totally understandable about Minecraft. :)
Which one on Steam is free? I think I've seen the others, based on your description. And thanks for reminding me of the existence of Big Fish games... I haven't been to that website since not long before Steam took over my life, hahaha. I used to LOVE playing their games! :)
Hey, a fellow Picross fan! If you're looking for a recommendation, there were actually a whole bunch of Picross games released for the SNES / Super Famicom. Sadly, I don't think any of them got localized so there might be a bit of a language barrier (which isn't really too much of a problem since the games aren't exactly word-heavy to start with). The ones I know of are:
Huh. I'll look for them. Despite having run SMW, I never got a Japanese cart, so I only have the US console that I've never broken to play J super famicom games. Cool though!
If you're looking to buy physical copies of those games I just want to give a quick warning that the Picross NP series might be a little difficult to track down (and really expensive) since none of them ever had a standalone release. They were released exclusively for a peripheral known as the Nintendo Power (no relation to the magazine), which was essentially a flash cart that you took to a store and they'd download games into it. Emulation is unfortunately your only bet there.
Emu is certainly easier to come by!
Hello all!
My name is Allen and I run a VGM remix community called GameLark as well as a gaming podcast called Devil May Play. I enjoy a variety of games, but RPGs and platformers are my favorite genres without a doubt. I've recently been enjoying Titanfall 2 and Dishonored 2. I've only been a part of this community for a few months, but I'm already enjoying the discussions that I've had with other members and look forward to seeing the community grow!
Welcome, Allen!
Have you checked out /titanfall yet?
I have not! I'll have to check it out :)
Awesome! You should make a post sharing any thoughts you've had about the state of T2 multiplayer. I'd love to read what you and others have to say about it :)
I certainly will. Also, I love your username/avatar.
Thanks! It originated as a pledge name in my fraternity, since I love Archer and I was the oldest pledge in my class.
Hey friends! I'm TheGoodLadyPendragon! I play a lot on older systems (n64, ps1, ps2) but still dabble in the newer systems. I'm currently playing MediEvil on ps1, Psychonauts on ps2, working through Song of the Deep on PS4, and I'm always toting my 3ds around to play The Binding of Isaac and Ocarina of time Master Quest. I love all the Soulsborne games, Borderlands, Jak and Daxter, and all the Zelda titles!
Hey there! I'm @NormallyAPatientGamer, even though I fail at living up to my name more often than not.
I stick mostly to my consoles, and platformers are where I enjoy playing the most.
I picked up the new Paper Mario on Friday, expecting to be disappointed after the disaster that was Sticker Star, and have been pleasantly surprised. I think I've put in 10 hours this weekend, which given that I gave up on Sticker Star after 3 or 4 hours, bodes well for this one.
Sup all. I've been a gamer since the age of five in 1987.
My favorite relatively recent games would probably have to be...
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
BioShock (the first)
Technobabylon
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
The Sea Will Claim Everything
Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure
Halo 4
Halo 3: ODST
Tales of Xillia
My favorite games these days tend to be strong on story and immersion, but also usually have action elements core to the experience.
In the last few years I've also put a ton of time into...
Destiny (PS4)
Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn
Star Trek Online
Allods Online
The Elder Scrolls Online
But I don't really do MMORPGs like the latter four anymore. I'm tired of having to say goodbye to friends when I inevitably get sick of the game.
I'm currently playing...
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Special Edition
I have a newly started regular Twitch broadcast: https://www.twitch.tv/vespin_feebler
You can make a Twitch plug in this comment thread :)
Thanks. :)
Also, you should post on /supportsmallerstreams whenever you broadcast!
And thanks again!
Yay Deus Ex!
Will you play Mankind Divided as you enjoyed Human Revolution?
It's up there in my "current playing" list. I'm enjoying it so far. :)
Hi there!
I really feel you on the 'having to say goodbye to friends' issue. I am very flighty as far as sticking with games, and I often feel quite guilty when I leave friends behind. I almost always give them other means to contact me, but most don't. And I understand that. But it's a bummer!
Nice to meet you!
Nice to meet you too!
Yeah, compared to many, I don't last long in MMORPGs. I play them for one to three months (closer to one than three), and then I walk. I always plan to go back but rarely do, and only once have I ever returned and stuck around for a while again. And yes, the guilt! I feel like I've abandoned friends! In FF14 I managed to make a friend that stayed one after I left, but that's it. :(
Hi there, I'm usually @wolfpurplemoon around Imzy :)
I have been gaming since I was little, my parents had a ZX Spectrum, and then an Amiga and I also played games on the PC. The games I have the earliest memories of were on the Amiga, and that was Lemmings and Cannon Fodder. And we had a lot of those educational Fun School games for PC.
Later on PC I played the original GTA a lot (my Dad got it for us despite the 18+ rating), though I was terrible at the missions and just enjoyed exploring the top down open world. I also played The Sims, again I'd get bored of the main objectives and just give myself infinite money and build awesome houses with all the best furniture!
My brother had a PS1 on which I played some Tomb Raider and a really frustrating game called Diver's Dream that I never finished!
It wasn't until I met my partner in 2011 that I got a lot more in to gaming and actually finished a few games! I started with Half Life and Portal (1 and 2 in both of those), and have since played many other games, including WoW, Minecraft, Saints Row, F.E.A.R, Mass Effect and Trine.
A couple of months ago, in anticipation of Deus Ex Mankind Divided coming out I played the original Deus Ex and Deus Ex Human Revolution in quick succession. And now I run /deusex!
Are you excited for Mass Effect: Andromeda?
Oh god yes - especially after the N7 day trailer and everything!
I love that BioWare made sure to get all three games backwards compatible on Xbox One. I'm definitely going to play through them before Andromeda releases!
ME2 is on Xbox One?
ME 1, 2, and 3 are all backwards compatible now, so yes. It happened last week!
Hi there!
Lemmings was such a fun game! There's a similar game on Steam... if you'd like me to find the name for you, I would be happy to. :)
I was telling AshleyQ just before responding to you, that I love Saints Row, even though it's not my usual style at all!
Do you still play Minecraft? If so, do you have any recommendations for public servers?
Nice to meet you!
Hi!
A lemmings-like game sounds worth checking out - there are a few places online to play the original like here http://playdosgamesonline.com/lemmings.html
I played Saints Row The Third with my partner in co-op and we just had such a laugh playing it - more games should allow co-op! F.E.A.R 3 has an excellent co-op, you play as two characters with totally different skills and it's also really fun!
I pop in and out of Minecraft, my partner and I had our own private Realms server and I've not forayed much into the world of public servers, I believe there is a /minecraft community here that may have been setting up a community server?
Nice to meet you too!
http://store.steampowered.com/app/210170/ is the Lemmings-like game. It gets 'mostly positive' reviews. It's called Spirits. I own it, and I played it a bit, but I'm not really into Lemmings anymore. Thank you for the link to it, though! Hopefully more people in this thread are Lemmings fans and will appreciate it, too!
F.E.A.R. 3 sounds interesting! I'll go check it out, thanks! checks it out Interesting! I'm not usually a fan of the horror genre as I'm WAY too easily scared, but some of the 'complaints' about the game include that it's not scary enough, so it might be okay! Thanks for the info!
I'm already a member of the /minecraft community, but I didn't know they may be setting up a server! I have never had a Realms server, but I've had servers at akliz.net (big plug for them here, because they're AMAZING. I'm not affiliated with them whatsoever, I just think they're really friendly, great to work with, and have a great service).
I've been playing Saints Row 3 by myself. Sadface! My boyfriend bought it to play with me as well, but ended up returning it. He felt it was clever and funny, but that the gimmicks frustrated him far too much to play it.
Oh, if you like co op, you might like Stardew Valley, since it's a fun little farming game that's getting multiplayer co op in the next year sometime. I know 'farming game' doesn't sound fun, but if you ever played Harvest Moon, you'll know the appeal. So cute, and so fun! :)
Oh hecka dang, subbed! I'm halfway through DE: Revision right now. I hadn't played the original since middle school and I am having a wonderful time.
Yay!
Hi Imzy! I'm bananabelle and I'm happy to run female gaming spaces, including here on imzy at /girlgamers!
I used to play a wide variety of games, but lately, I pretty much play Destiny and Overwatch exclusively. It's quite a turnaround for me since I never used to play multiplayer games, let alone PVP centric games, but I've found a good community of people to play with and here I am.
You've already joined /destiny, yes?
I'm so excited for Sparrow Racing League to return!!!
Of course! It was one of the first communities I joined!
I love your Girl Gamers group... just discovered it a day or two ago, and joined right away. Thanks for running it! :)
Nice to meet you!
My name is Tim. I'm a hobby game developer in my free time, which there isn't much of.
Lately I have been pretty busy so not many games. I play Pokemon GO a decent bit and I played some of Fatal Frame 2 on Wii yesterday.
I'll always be a Nintendo fan at heart, but I also enjoy survival horror in many forms.
I am also the person behind /WiiU, if you'd like to go over and check that out.
Uhm... I'm Nezumi... and... I play all sorts of games? Not really sure what to say, and Trump has me freaked out.
He has me freaked out, too.
What are some of your most recent fave games? Do you play Minecraft, by the by? Always looking for mod recommendations and server recommendations!
Sorry I was away for so long. I do play Minecraft, I've been playing Wild Guns Reloaded, Tap Titans, and various Steam games of late, also a fair bit of Lego Dimensions.
Definitely freaked out by the cheeto dictator too. Hang in there, friend.
Hi everybody! My name is Evan, and I've been a gamer since before I can remember, since my mom used to give me an unplugged NES controller so she could play Zelda without me bothering her. Not that I knew it was unplugged, of course, mom says I thought I was giving it hell.
Nowadays I like playing RPGs like The Elder Scrolls, Pokémon, Fable, The Witcher, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect. I also really like horror games like Five Nights at Freddy's, Silent Hill, Biohazard, and Slender. And for the last six months or so, I've been writing the lore and helping build new areas for a MUD called Ember Online, which only launched a week ago, and is always welcoming to new people (sorry for the shameless plug).
Mass Effect yay! Cautiously excited for what Andromeda will bring us :)
What is a MUD?
I'm also cautiously optimistic about Andromeda after the N7 day trailer! I'm reserving my judgment until I find out if I have to wait another 3 games for a same sex LI for my male character though (I'm still unhappy about this if you can't tell).
A MUD is a multi-user dungeon, or if you prefer a text based RPG. There's a lot of reading involved with them, but they're very fun.
Yeah - hopefully both player characters will have multiple gender options from the beginning!
Ah, yes I know what you mean - I've not really played any text based games :)
Hi there!
That's a really cool story about your mom! :) I play on a MUX, so I feel you on that front. It's so hard to find people into the hobby, so it's nice to meet you! I play on MUSH/MUX games for roleplay, but I miss MUD days, too.
I just wish I could find a proper, inexpensive mapping client for MUDs so I wouldn't have to memorize long strings of directions, follow long strings of directions, or just get lost. That, or allow recall from any spot. Or both! That's one of the big things keeping me away from all MUDs-- they all have vast worlds, and I am directionally challenged, to put it mildly, in both RL and in games. It's a pain.
Good luck with your MUD! I hope it's fantastically successful! :)
Ember has a built in graphical map actually! And the admin/coder made a program people can use to make their own maps for it and other games, which is available free. I'm on mobile right now so I don't have that link handy, but I'd be happy to provide it when I'm back at my PC tomorrow morning if you want it :)
I would love it, thank you! That's pretty cool. :) I have trouble reading maps (I suspect I'm spatially screwed up somehow-- which is totally the technical term :P ) but I can give it a try!
http://chrisvall.com/coding/mud_map_designer_123 Here you go!
Thanks so much! Although... shoot. I went to the Ember Online page just now, and saw it's a PvP game. I really don't enjoy PvP. I'm sorry to have wasted your time. :( Still, I really appreciate the link to the mapper... maybe I'll be able to use it somewhere else or something. At any rate, thank you again, and it's nice to meet you!
There's plenty of PvE content (or will be once we get done building it all xD), but I completely understand not liking the PvP aspect of online games, since I hate it myself. I play for the lore I'm writing for it. Thank you for checking it out anyways! :D
Thanks for understanding! :D
Hi, I'm Fuckbomber.
I like the video games. I'm always late to the party on newer AAA games and tend to stick to Rocket League, Splatoon, Skate 3 and bouncing around various Indie games that come out.
I like "Walking simulators", Nes/Famicom games and a mishmash of others.
On the peripheries of gaming I love Giant bomb and I also created /waypoint group on here as I'd like to see the community for the site grow.
Thanks!
I'm lonedragon. I normally play League of Legends, but I also play World of Warcraft time to time, and I am learning to play CS:GO.
Hi /Gaming !
I'm Roger. The games I like to play are generally RPGs, base-building games, story-heavy consequence-light Telltale-style games, and the occasional puzzle game. There are lots more genres I like but are terrible at (e.g. RTS: What do you mean 'get all my guys in a big group and throw them at the enemy' is not the pinnacle of military tactics?).
I make games as a hobby, which means I enter game jams and have fun, but you've almost certainly never heard of anything I've ever done :)
I tend to get into one game to the exclusion of others; lately, for me, that game has been Fortresscraft Evolved, which is basically a 3D Factorio. Tons of hours in that one!
Welcome Roger!
What type of puzzle games exactly?
There's the "arcadey" type puzzle games like Puzzle Quest, which I like until the fact that I'm not that great at them eventually catches up with me :)
My go-to timekiller has got to be Hexcells, though. I've played so much of that in so many airports while waiting for my flights!
Neat - I was asking as I spent way to much time doing this puzzle :) - http://www.mcgov.co.uk/zahada.html
I loved playing Puzzle Quest! It haunts me to this day that I never defeated Lord Bane :(
Ah, I tend to be terrible at riddles or e.g. crossword puzzles. That's why I tend toward the more abstract stuff :)
Hi Roger!
You sound a lot like me, on the puzzle and RTS side of things! I really enjoyed Hexcells, too! I never finished it, but that's probably due mostly to my almost never finishing ANY game. :P
What sorts of base-building games? Are you a Minecraft fan? I really liked FortressCraft Evolved but had no one to play with (and also I suck at it, hahaha.)
Hello my new bestest Gaming pals!
Was fortunate to work with amazing people on two dozen or so wonderful, funny, big hearted games at Humongous Entertainment. Was also a Linden, and yes SL is a game if that's how you play :)
Currently sneaking through a heavily modded Skyrim with my sweetie @lenorecurler and a blue khajiit named Inigo.
FACT: Pablo Sanchez remains the best clean up hitter in the history of baseball.
Wait... You were partially responsible for my favorite sports game series of all-time?
0_0
Well, not the first one...I was on SpyFox at the time...but I designed the pro kids for the next two and did a bunch of paper animation of kids batting which was crazy fun. Oh, and I wrote a ton of conditional dialog for Sunny Day and Vinnie the Gooch calling games...whew...hundreds of lines of dialog.
But yeah, aren't those games THE BEST?? I still play BYBB :)
Kenny Lofton was so overpowered. I had him as #5 batter, after Pablo would go yard. Outfield bloops would turn into triples with ease!
Haha...didn't turn out quite that way in real life did it? #aw
I tend to Randomize teams, or just put my faves in regardless of their stats. I love Randy Johnson on the mound, with Luanne Lui in the bullpen. Lead off hitters are Pete Wheeler (for his exception base stealing abilities) then Nomar, Griffy (center field!) and Pablo on cleanup.
And play as the Humongous Melonheads, without fail, as that was how our company softball team rolled :)
Hiya, I'm SleepyChipmunk and I'm super excited to be here! My favorite games are:
*Dark Souls Dishonored Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Elder Scrolls Online Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted Mount and Blade: Warband Sunless Sea Thief II: The Metal Age
I play more, too, but those are the ones I always come back to!
I am Grundy, I currently play on Xbox One and used to play exclusively on PC. I mainly play Destiny and Battlefield 1. I did play World of Warcraft for a couple years with my wife awhile back and haven't dared start that addiction again :). I've started dabbling in The Division and every now and then play some Minecraft as well. Rocket League is also another fun game to play with friends. Still unsure on Titanfall 2 and Watch Dogs 2.
GT - Grundy819
Hello, I'm Mental_Block. I've had a fascination with video games since I was very young, and that fascination extends to more than just playing them. I'm also very interested in the history of games, the music, game design, and all sorts of other trivia and minutae. I play on both PC and on consoles, and I play both retro and modern games (I think I spend more time with the older stuff though). Though I enjoy a pretty broad range of stuff, my primary taste in games right now leans more towards arcade-y action games from the mid-80s to the late-90s. I sometimes refer to this as "68000 gaming", since most games which fit that description were on hardware that utilized a 68000-based processor (such as the Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Sharp X68000, as well as several hundred arcade titles).
However, the games I've been playing most recently are quite a bit different. I'm still working my way through Forza Horizon 3 and Picross 3D: Round 2 (almost done with both), and I've been considering starting up Mafia III shortly. My gaming diet has been kinda thin lately as I've been trying to get back into game development in my spare time, but if anyone's looking for people to play with I'm happy to make some time.
Hello! I'm Matjaz, not on the youngest side of living years. But that doesn't stop me from playing games on PC. My biggest love goes to flight simulations:
Then some space sims:
But these days I mostly play Titanfall 2. I've also invested a lot of my time last three years in Mechwarrior Online.
Sometimes I jump into the train (Train Simulator 2017), or truck (Eurotruck simulator 2).
I've enjoyed playing SOMA, IL2, X: series, Mass Effect 1,2,3 (waiting for Andromeda), Facon 4, I-war, X-wing series, Skyrim, Half Life ... and perhaps I forgot many of them.
I'm Gian and i have been playing video games since i was a kid with super mario bros, and will continue to play until i'm old. Some of my favorite games are Skyrim, Mass Effect series, Dragon Age series, Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas, Devil May Cry, Saints Row series, Dragon's Dogma, Red Dead Redemption, Tomb Raider, Uncharted series and Dishonored.
I'm Tim (or TJ), a queer law student and huge huge nerd. I don't have enough folks to talk about games with so please come talk to me!
Mostly I play JRPGs, but I dabble in other things. I haven't ever been into PC gaming (I've always had Macs) and I don't have a good enough internet connection to do Destiny, Overwatch, or the like. I feel kind of alone as a gamer lately like no one likes the kinds of games I do anymore.
My FAVE game of all time is Ocarina Of Time. My fave RPG of all time is Tales of the Abyss.
I love all Zelda games, all Tales Of games, and I do enjoy Final Fantasy but I feel like it's gotten sort of...overrated. FFX was the last FF game I absolutely loved, though I keep playing them.
I also love Bioshock and all the Dragon Age games. Undertale was pretty cool but overhyped to me so I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to.
I'm with you on FFX being the last FF game I loved. Definitely. I liked DA:O a lot. I never finished it, but that's not unusual for me; I rarely finish anything, especially games. :P I own Inquisition, but I keep swearing I should finish DA:O first, and maybe buy and play DA 2.
Do you think you'd be able to do Minecraft, and/or do you own it? I ask because I'm always looking for more people to play Minecraft with, and although I'm a PC person at heart, I know we'd be able to play on the same server despite that.
Sorry you've been feeling lonely as a gamer. I sometimes do, too. MMOs help me with that, but I'm lucky enough to have an okay computer and good connection speed. I don't like stuff like Destiny/Overwatch/LoL, etc. And I can't afford new games, for the most part. So I kind of get where you're coming from.
Nice to meet you!
HA I have a hard time finishing games too tbqh >> FFIX is my fave FF of all time but FFX is a close second. I've played the ones after it and had varying levels of enjoyment but, enh, they don't come close for me in terms of character and story.
I liked DA in this order: 2, Inquisition, Origins. I've never beaten Origins and find the controls kind of hard, honestly, but I've played the others more than once and really enjoyed them.
I couldn't figure out what the POINT of Minecraft was, hahaha. My internet connection at home is satellite, so I can't do online games right now because of the latency. It's a huge pain in the ass, but in a couple years when I move out of this town I may be able to play things like that again. :\
I rarely buy new games unless I get gift cards because I'm also in a place where I can't afford new ones rn so I feel you on that. Nice to meet you too!
I loved FFVII and FFVI but, and I know this is an unpopular opinion, I loved FFVIII or FFX best. The truth is, the first FF game I played on my own console at home was FFVIII and it was pretty and had fun music and was in fact my first console game, in a way. (I'm not all that young-- I'm 35. It's just that I wasn't allowed a console growing up. We had a PC, though.) I think there's often a shade of nostalgia in those games we first played, particularly as children, teens and young adults.
That's interesting that you liked 2 best. A lot of people rave about Inquisition/Origins, and trash 2. I don't have a dog in that fight, having only played Origins and about the first two minutes of 2.
Vanilla (unmodded) Minecraft's purpose is largely left up to you, though there are always goals you can try to achieve on your own, and there are the achieves and stuff. In Creative mode, it's about being creative and building something. You get access to all the blocks in the game, and can just go hog-wild being an artist/architect. There's also redstone, which is kind of like electrical currents as I understand it, and you can build complex machines with it. I know almost nothing about the redstone side of things.
In survival mode, you have to pay attention to your health and hunger. You only have access to blocks that you collect yourself. You fight monsters and stuff, too. This is my favorite mode, though I make a few tweaks usually to make it not SO hard. I'm by no means hardcore.
But where Minecraft really shines is its modding community. There are thousands of mods, that can REALLY change up the game, making it as though it's a hundred games and not just one.
I feel you on the money end of things. It's been hard for me to switch from buying lots of games to none/almost none. You might like games at www.humblebundle.com -- they have a store, but they ALSO allow you to get lots of games for one low price. It's a 'pay what you've got' sort of scenario, for the most part. I pay what I can, but that's gone way down this year. Anyway, I also love Humble Bundle because a portion of all proceeds goes to various charities. It's win/win all around, to my mind. They've raised millions for charity.
Are you on Steam or any sort of platform you'd be willing to give me a username for? I'd love to keep chatting with you, and I'm wary of making this thread All About Me, as I've been quite chatty today. ^_^ No pressure on that-- if you'd rather not give a username at all, I totally understand. :)
C Brachy is a handle I've been using since I first got onto the internet about 25 years ago. I was raised on Contract Bridge and Canasta until I got into electronic games. Currently I tend to gravitate toward games with one or more of the following:
I also do X Box fitness games.
Some recent games include:
I've just realized that I spend a lot of time playing reboots of what I played when I was a kid. I still play Nethack, I'm still terrible at it. I play a lot of Brutal Doom. I'm in the middle of Deus Ex 1 again with some Revision mod. Steam says that Dark Souls, Dragon Age, Skyrim, and Starbound are where I've logged the most hours.

I'm Canama on Steam (link in profile), Canama139 on Origin, and Canama#1728 on Battle.net
Been playing a lot of Titanfall 2 lately. I've also been playing Binary Domain, which I got when it was being given out for free a while back and I decided to try out on a whim. It's a mess, but I kind of like it? If nothing else it's interesting to see a Japanese take on a typically Western genre.
Also I bought Game Maker Studio in the Humble Bundle a little ways back so I'm trying to figure out how to Make a Thing. I have some vague, tentative ideas for what I want to do but I haven't nearly put it together into a cohesive thing yet. I probably won't ever actually end up releasing anything.
Welcome, Canama! You should join us over on /titanfall!
Awesome, I definitely will.
Hello my name is Marcus! I'm the owner of /Madden. Im a PC gamer and an Xbox One. I mainly okay sports games like Madden 17, 2K17, and other games like CoD and GTA V.
Hi, I'm subtletyislost but you can call me Cronan or Ruka I don't mind. I'm a fairly causal gamer probably, I don't like competitive gaming because it stresses me out but I'm all for people who do like it. I currently can't play any games though other than Pokémon X or Pokémon OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire or Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/A Link Between Worlds because my laptop is broken (I have a donation page that I'll be linking to in my blog community /subtletyislost (I have no idea if that will work or how markdown works and I'm on the iOS app so idk this might be a really long block of text oops) to raise funds to get it fixed but so far I've got nothing) but when I could play games I usually played Skyrim, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed, and on occasion Unravel and Child of Light. Sorry if this long or jumbled up.
I haven't introduced here myself yet, so...
I go by Swordsage here and elsewhere on the net, and have been playing games since I was seven (I'm getting up there in age... I actually remember when Dragon's Lair was in arcades...). I play primarily on PC, though I do use my PS3 from time to time.
I'm into a variety of genres, though I notice my main loves are fighting games, action RPG's, racing games, open world GTA style games, and co-op FPS. Currently, the games I'm steadily playing are as follows:
Dark Souls III (the Souls games are pretty much my favorite games of all time) Payday 2 Burnout Paradise Castle Crashers Grand Theft Auto V (finally got a group together for online shenanigans) Diablo 2 (Diablo 1 was my first real PC gaming obsession) Torchlight I and II Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor King of Fighters XIII (really need more people to play against) Ultra Street Fighter IV (haven't bought V yet) Nidhogg (REALLY need some people to play that with) Broforce (too much fun) Hyper Light Drifter Hand of Fate
There's plenty of others I play, but this list is long enough, and besides, I'm just listing the ones in constant rotation.
I'm definitely interested in playing with others in the community, especially if I can also provide a chance to play multiplayer games without harassment from the usual goblins out there. There's a reason I tend to only play with known friends, but I remember a time when playing with "randoms" wasn't nearly as much of a teeth grinding experience as it tends to be these days. If I can actually make a multiplayer gaming session as fun and non hostile as possible for other people, then all the better. :)
Feel free to message me anytime. :)
Hi, my name is Tiger, aka Xystria. I've been playing video games since I was one (or so i'm told) and i've played and love a vast selection of games of all genres! To my knowledge my first video games ever played were things like, Perfect Dark, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Quake 1 and 2, Jet force Gemini, ARMORINES and more. Of which I still own (and my N64). Apparently I used to play against myself, with a N64 controller in each hand, but I can't do that anymore. I don't know how I could do that at a young age, but trying to hold a N64 controller now is like ''How was I able to do this?''
And the first ever online game was Starcraft (Protoss for life). But now I just play Planetside 2 and League of Legends mostly. But I do play others once in awhile (Like Starcraft for that nostalgia). I can play every genre of Video game with little trouble, but I prefer FPS games. Especially ones with heavy customization options (or ones I can run)
I'm also a big fan of vintage games like Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga and many more!
Hi there!
I'm JinxLuckless here and some other places, and have been very chatty in this thread today! ;D
I like MMOs (currently ESO for the most part), The Sims, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Saints Row, Borderlands 2, turn based strategy, etc. I like a LOT of games. I have a lot of Steam and GOG and Origin games. Too many, probably, but I was doing pretty well financially for a bit and I don't entirely regret buying them. It should keep me busy for awhile.
I'm a pretty casual player, and I also almost never finish games. I'm very flighty. I might play a game for months, play two or three different games the next week, come back to the months-long game, etc. It's kind of unpredictable. I like to warn people about that ahead of time.
Nice to meet you all!
Hi I'm Kelley AKA Kiwi born and raised in New Zealand living in the USA. I am a late bloomer in gaming, computer lifestyles weren't common in my neighborhood and generation BUT working nightshifts as a bar manager found me seeking something to do in the early hours with a wind down beverage or 5.
I currently play all Trion Worlds games especially Atlas Reactor Rift and ArcheAge which finds me hosting: Trion Gaming Network
I also play "World of Tanks" on PC. My Steam library gathers dust but I'm enjoying "Dead by Daylight" and "Cities: Skylines. The XboxOne has only seen me play "Never Alone" lately and I am so into "BioShock Infinite" on our iMac.
You will find me vicariously living through many streamers daily on every other game out there upward of 8 hours a day. Huge fan of esports, co-op games, creative channel with gaming fan artists and all those good Twitch things. I read many sites, articles and am a social media fiend heh also host Atlas Reactor Reddit & Discord as well as Rift MMORPG Discord.
Currently setting up a website for my gaming adventures: kiwigamerjuice.com Hope to have that finished before the holiday season and updated regularly.
Nice to meet you.

Hey guys! I'm Lorna, a 27yo woman-child from Northern Ireland. I play a variety of games on Steam from RPG's, Point & Click and even the odd Clicker game.
I'm also a part time achievement hunter and I'm currently on a mission to sort out my Steam backlog! :D
Welcome, Lorna! Any specific games you've been enjoying lately?
Thank you! I just started Broken Age today and I'm really enjoying it so far. The artwork is beautiful! ♡
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I'm an engineer by day, gamer by night! Lately I've been really immersed in the Blizzard stable of games because they're so easy to jump into after a long day of work. I also love all games Bethesda, but just don't have the time for them much.
Thanks for reading! -Matt
Welcome, Matt!
We have some great communities for Blizzard and Bethesda games! Which Blizzard games are you playing right now?
I've joined the World of Warcraft and Overwatch communities, really loving Legion!
Awesome! Legion is pretty spectacular
