Any tips on succulents?
A friend of mine is gifting me with cuttings from several of her succulents. I've never had succulents before... Any tips on keeping them happy?

A few basic tips for cacti and other succulents:
-Do not overwater, especially in the winter. The soil should dry out completely between waterings.
-Get some good well-drained soil. Cactus mix from the store is OK, but I prefer even more sand and perlite in it to keep the drainage really good.
-Plenty of light is a plus (sunny window), but keep in mind that cacti and succulents can actually sunburn if you live somewhere hot and sunny.
Good luck!
I keep overwatering my plants so I've been throwing extra perlite into everything, haha. I'll give a cactus mix+perlite blend a try. Thanks! :) Do they really struggle if they don't get a lot of direct sunlight? I live in Oregon (so summer is bright but winter means months without a whole lot of sun) and my apartment isn't blessed in the natural light category.
I have a small vertical garden with succulents, and they have reached for the sunlight so badly that they pulled themselves out of the container. They are beside a west facing window with no obstructions outside; so they SHOULD be getting enough light but obviously are not.
