Seeds & soil, fruits and flowers. A community for gardeners!
Oh hey, it's Springtime!

Here is some of what I've got going...herbs, artichokes, lots of greens, some cabbage that decided to flower instead of make cabbage.
I've also got a 4x4 plot of multi-colored radishes, celery, and I just put in my tomatoes and squash. Spring is glorious, huh?
What is everyone planting this year?

Lovely haul! Thanks for sharing. Would love to see your colorful radishes too!
Unfortunately I won't be planting this year, but am looking forward to supporting the local growers in my area at the farmer's markets and co-ops.
Thanks! I love farmers markets, too.
aaaa this all looks so amazing! is that swiss chard by your hand? mm my favorite. i would love to grow artichokes but i don't think they'd survive winter here :'(
the only thing i've got in the ground so far is peas...a couple sugar snap and snow pea varieties. but they haven't sprouted yet! oh yeah and garlic, planted last fall. seems to be doing well.
in my seed starter pots i have ...like, the biggest list ever. i might be too ambitious. i'll just go through the basics...
i'm sure i'll share more throughout the year about whatever i manage to have some success with :)
Most of those big leaves there are collard greens (so tender and good when home grown!), though there are a couple of yellow swiss chard leaves buried in that pile. =)
I admit I have never had collard greens that I know of. will have to try them some time!
If you've ever grown broccoli or kale, it's basically the same thing. It also grows really fast, and thrives during my California winters, where it rarely drops below 30 F.
This is the first time I've grown it, and I found that it is much more tender and sweeter than the store-bought bags of cut greens. Very versatile veggie.
I am growinggggg... grapes, chilis which include ghosty type and several pequin varieties, melons if my dog STOPS PEEING ON THEM (He loves peeing on the melon plants I don't understand.) and peanuts if the other dog and rest of the planet don't eat them. My grapes and chilis are more permanent plants really though. I have a terrible squirrel problem that is attempting to stop my everything but ESPECIALLY all edible things. I mostly do ornamental and I will buy every single cactus and succulent I see and want. :c Most my plant purchases are impulsive. Today I bought a couple of sundews. and my kiwi seeds sprouted so hopefully those will do well. I'm that person that goes shopping about once a week to see what's weird.
