What Makes Plants Happy?

Understanding What Makes Plants Happy

Q. You visit a lot of gardens, and probably hear from gardeners like me with beds that just aren't working. What's the most common cause? A. First, we have to understand that plants are social creatures. Our garden plants evolved as members of diverse social networks.

This was a really wonderful article/interview (ditto for your bonus link in the comments).

This is the part of managing my perennial beds that just mystifies me and it's turning into a years of trial-and-error. I'm finally recognising a few combinations that thrive in health and aesthetic but it's still a crap shoot.

I'm about to check out the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center link they included. Fingers crossed!
