Compassion and Charity
I think a lot about how import compassion is to healthy communities. I don't really have a guess as to the specific percentage of people who need to be compassionate, but I believe it has to be a fairly consistent narrative to bust through the natural negativity people bring to communities, especially online.
As such, I am going to make a personal effort to bring compassionate communities to Imzy. I think if we tackle this head on and are proactive, we will be able to bring more compassion to all communities.
The first step is always to acknowlege it and talk about it. The second step for me is to go and find communities and I would like to start with communities that focus on charity. This should work great, especially with our tipping system.
My question to you - what communities would you like to see?
I am going to talk to Watsi, they are small and scrappy and I think they will see what we are trying to do and be excited about it.
What are some other communities that would fall into this category?

I've always loved charities focused on education (Watsi is great too). Two of my favorites right now are:
Something I think Watsi and Donors Choose do well is really helping you feel connected to who you're donating to, I think that would make for a great community.
I've supported Donor's Choose a number of times and always enjoyed it a lot. I had never heard of Pencils of Promise but I like their founding story. Ideas that start with a small concept are really great!
Thinking more, I don't remember where I heard about it but I remember hearing good things about EraseMS. An organization helping to cure Multiple Sclerosis.
A worthy cause!
I would love to see a ground-up "pay-it-forward" type community. Something where people can ask for favors and also just do nice things for each other, and maybe something that would allow us to keep track of how many good deeds you've given vs received. The whole point of having a community platform is allowing everyone to contribute from the ground up, so it would be cool to see a community that follows this principle in a charitable perspective in addition to bringing in really amazing charities that already exist like Watsi.
Yeah this is a great idea and something I would love to make happen, especially when a few people get into the platform!
