hockey in your media
I was watching an episode of an old 90s sci-fi show called seaQuest DSV the other day, and suddenly in the middle of my science fictional submarine happenings was someone announcing the Caps-Rangers score in (I think) the 2022 ECF. And then there's time shenanigans, and the clue to the time shenanigans is that the Rags eliminate the Caps in game 7, which was pretty fun.
SO. Where else have you been pleasantly surprised to suddenly find some hockey?

I guess that gives Rangers fans something to look forward to!
Speaking of old shows, I love the Mary Tyler Moore episode where Lou and Rhoda start going to North Stars games together. It's the source of one of my favorite quotes: "This whole thing is getting awfully complicated for a hockey game!"
Other than everything I've watched recently? The brother in Baby Daddy is supposed to be on the Rangers. 12 Dates of Christmas had the guy coaching a team for kids in foster care. The last few seasons of One Tree Hill had a sports agent as a main character so he mentions hockey from time to time. I know I've been noticing it everywhere even in things I'd watched previously. Perhaps I should post here every time I come across a reference?
You should! I know I've been noticing for the first time in things I've seen before - it's just a matter of being attuned to it now.
Movie called Adventures in the Sin Bin because the van these hs dudes use to hook up with girls used to belong to a hockey gear place & they used to put their broken merchandise in it, thus the double entendre.
Actually it's got a bunch more hockey references. The condoms in the movie are called "Everwood" and have a picture of a hockey stick on the package. And it takes place in Chicago. But there isn't ever any actual hockey. Just prep school kids getting drunk & being stupid. It was a cute movie.
I tripped and started rewatching Leverage again, and season 5 has a nice Hockey episode, where Eliot joins a team trying to help a enforcer getting payed to fight and in risk of doing permanent damaged to his brain.
Wow, talk about timely. And that sounds so up Eliot's alley. One of these days I will finish that series, I swear. What I saw was so delightful. :)
I absolutelly rec it, it's my feel good confort food show.
