Okay, first--LEGGINGS!
Second, has there ever been a first-person article from/about Sid? I'm assuming it's ghost-written like the Players Tribune pieces, but... how much of this do we think is him? There are a couple typos that seem like someone should've caught--words that got out of order after editing.
Third, what do we think of the title? Is that self-deprecating humor, or is the entire internet going to read it as arrogant?
Basically, this is just as bland as all his interviews, but with just enough (also bland) humor and genuine insight that I am charmed. (As per the usual.)
And the LEGGINGS.

I'm leaning towards almost entirely him! It certainly reads enough to be from him - or at least the him that's been filtered through several media lessons since the age of twelve.
I am sure the internet will have A Lot to say about the title, but I like it. It's a challenge, and an acknowledgement of the doubters, and I don't think it's particularly arrogant at all.
And also, yes, the leggings are spectacular
i am fully prepared to believe that he wrote it himself. i mean, maybe he didn't, but i am willing to buy what si is selling here.
i feel like the title reads as a challenge, in a way. i don't think he wants people to blindly stick up for him just because he's sidney crosby. he wants to earn it every season. so, a tongue in cheek acknowledgement of people's doubts, but a little arrogant too, for sure. but deservedly so, imo.
(the leggings are so great)
same honestly--maybe i'm just used to the slickness of the players' trib ghostwriter but this seems raw in places in a way someone with limited writing experience might have?
it could just be that the cauldron's ghostwriter does less editing, too, but i could believe he wrote it lol
yep! it's clunky in terms of wording here and there. and the part where he refers to three months as nearly the entire regular season? damning mistake, or just sid thinking about it in terms of condensed games in a way viewers probably don't?
I loved this! Maybe I just don't know of anything else he wrote, but I think its great that we get to see his words in print. Like the Players Tribune. I do wonder how much of it is really his words...there is some blatant advertising at the end for Adidas. And yes, his tights are tight.
I notice that he doesn't capitalize Adidas, and apparently no one else went in and capitalized it for him. Which...?
IDK, I'm leaning on the theory that this is mostly him. The PT articles read a lot slicker. Or maybe their ghostwriters are just better. :D
I woke up to this and I gotta say it's A LOT and I don't know how I feel about it yet but what a fascinating glimpse into Sid's mindset and the way he prioritises hockey
i would like to purchase those legging, thank you sidney
Me too! Effective advertising! It can be done! Just put it on Sidney Crosby's thighs.
I would like another 30 pictures of Sid wearing them, from all angles, so I can make a informed decision!
It's sounds bland yet snarky enough for me to buy he actually wrote it. I feel like if it was more player tribune style they would have done a more entertaining text...
That is an excellent point. The PT writing is definitely better. And really, the SI writing, too. I love Alex Prewitt. This kind of does read like it's from a dude who likes history and would think through an article in terms of "And then this happened" rather than narrative structure, lol.
