Accesing Likes
When I see I have Likes, and I see the person's icon, I cannot open their profile to see who it is. The picture is too small and and I have found no way to open their account. Frustrating.

I'm only moderately fond of my hearting something showing I'm the one that hearted it. I definitely don't want bestowing a heart to be an invitation to check out my profile. That's not why I gave it. Commenting gives you the doormat, but I'm not interested in a heart being a doormat.
I don't mind my icon showing, but I agree with you that it shouldn't be a giant flashing WELCOME TO MY PROFILE sign, so to speak.
We actually did have likes showing on posts and comments for a short while, but most people agreed that it felt a little weird or invasive, like @nonniemas said, so we took it back. We also expect it to become less and less useful over time as the site grows and we get a feed view that allows posts to be displayed by popular instead of just newest, so people will likely start using it more, and it also isn't that useful since we can only list the usernames of people who have a named identity in that community.
I understand, and don't really care. Do what the community consensus suggests. FaceBook does, Google+ doesn't. I personally think if you join a social network, and you respond to a post, then being anonymous is a rather odd behavior; like making anonymous phone calls to people in your neighborhood.
