Bug report on leader adding

  • Bug Report

I am trying to add @fluffywhitething as a leader on /kindness, but when I try, it says they are not a member of that community. They've been there a long time, though. I've tried a few times over the past week.

Do you know why that might happen?

Thank you!

I'm desperately trying to reproduce this, and can't (thanks @Saicred for trying to help). I've added extra logging in place, so when you get in this state it will email us a detailed dump so we can figure out what's going on.

Would you mind trying again for me?

Anytime, hate I can't reproduce to test and what not....

That's definitely not great. Thanks for letting us know! I'll open a ticket for engineering.

I am a leader on three communities at the moment, and only started two, if that makes a difference.

Also, completely unrelated. I find it incredibly creepy in the app when it says "People are talking about you" when your name is mentioned.

Would you rather they talked behind your back and you didn't know?

      • fluffywhitethingAug 28, 2016 at 7:41 PM

It's only phrased that way in the app. On desktop it's "You were mentioned in a post/comment." Which is far less creepy than "People are talking about you..." It's not the notification that bothers me. It's the phrasing.

He has to do more than just join your community. Does he show up in your member list? If he hasn't posted, then he won't show up in your memberlist and you can't add him. Also make sure that if he has posted, that he is using the same profile on your community as the one you're adding. If not you'll have to add the profile he's specifically using on your community.

I went to your community and see that he has posted. Try going to the member list and copying what you see there for his name just so you know 100% sure you're getting the right thing.

Also check to make sure you have Leader Management Rights. If you didn't start the community the original leader may not of given you permission to add and remove leaders. You will see the leadership per.ission silos in the leadership tab.
