Official announcements and happiness!
Do you live with a cat? Maybe more than one cat?
We like to think of cats as our friends, our companions, even our pets. They, however, do not think of us, like, at all. We know this now, thanks to the study done at the University of Tokyo.
According to T.S. Elliot, who obviously was an expert on all things regarding the psychology and inner thinking of cats,
When a Cat adopts you there is nothing to be done about it except to put up with it and wait until the wind changes.
In my experience, this is true. One time a wounded cat followed me home and lived with us for two years before disappearing. He came "home" two weeks later with a note attached to his collar from his actual owner thanking us for caring for him. Wtf, right?
We called him Chester. I don't know what his real owner called him. It doesn't matter anyway.
‘No,’ said the cat. ‘Now, you people have names. That’s because you don’t know who you are. We know who we are, so we don’t need names.’
Neil Gaiman, Coraline
Regardless, we love them. Just about everyone loves them, right?
Getting to my point, out of curiosity, do you have a cat? I really just want to see pictures of cats. Please post pics in the comments and then be sure to join us over in /caturday and /cats! I'll go first.
This is Ringo waking me. Rude, but whatever.

Cthulhu helps with laundry!
Monster is my nurse on bad pain days.
awww they are both so pretty
They're gorgeous. They totally have their own Instagram account creepykittycats haha!
Doh. If only I had an instagram account I would totes follow them. You should post pictures of them to /caturday sometimes! :)
I should!
This is a great picture. It's like a painting. Such a pensive expression!
These two are already known quantities in /cats, but here are PG "Tippy" Tips and Pekoe!
I don't think I've seen that picture of them before! It's fantastic!
It was taken mid-bath. I said "babies!" and they looked up at me. :)
It looks like you have a mutant too! Willow also lacks a tail, and barely has anything of a boney nub. You need to really go looking for it, and she does not like that.
She does look like that sort of mutant in this picture! But I assure you, the tail is just hiding. :)
Well then, I'm far less interested! ;)
I have very few pictures of both my cats looking at the camera, but here's Milo:
and Willow:
and the two together:
aww I love that picture of the two of them together, I'm not sure I've seen that before. Willow looks so content :)
It's rare, that whole "cell mates" thing. This was right after I got back, and they both had to be touching me ALL THE TIME.
That reminds me of when I had just gotten back after being gone for like 2 days, and bentley and pippin both decided they needed to be on my lap.
They didn't totally fit, but they tried, and I couldn't believe they put up with being that close to each other. Especially back then, they were still fairly new to living together, and didn't get along all that awesome.
Well, it's been 4 years, so I've accepting that they will never be friends.
no matter how many cat pheromone plugins you buy, eh?
Ah, I love seeing cats together. My cat is a jerk to all animals and will not abide a cat friend, even when I explain how it could make his life so much better.
Very proper kitty.
Oh my gosh those ears! What sort of cat?
She is a Norwegian Forest Cat. Her parents were huge, but for some reason she wound up several pounds shy of them. She's shy of 10 pounds when she should be 16 pounds, minimum. She is healthy, just smol.
She makes up for the lack of pounds with plenty of fluff! She is very handsome :)
She is a very fluffy, sweet 16 year old :)
Thought so. I love NFCs!!
That floof!
My Neko-chan who died last month - she always insisted on sitting on my lap if I was wearing my pink fluffy dressing gown, she would yell at me until I sat down ^_^
Aw, what a sweetie. I'm sorry she passed :(
One of my cats used to love my bathrobe, and would always sit on my lap the second I sat down. It ended up hella ratty from his claws, even though it was super new. It wasn't like he was being super claw-y, it was just because the way the robe was made, his claws would always accidentally grab it.
Thanks.
Yeah Neko would claw at it for ages before she could settle down for a sleep - and she drooled as well XD
I posted this to /caturday earlier
He is a total brat, don't let his prettiness fool you!
Such yellow eyes you have!
That's my Sam, taken yesterday, as she was supervising my knitting.
Ah yes, supervising is a very important job that cats take very seriously.
She reminds me of Fat Monkey (r.i.p.). So cute!
I just can't get over that face.
Cats? Cats!
so fluff! 😻
I am apparently a home for fluffs. Can never find a shorthair (even the kitten is now a fluff.)
Say hello to Hamish, my weirdo monster.
She's upset with the fox sitting at our front door.
I kinda want foxes to visit my yard now.
I get bear too.
Oh wow. Well, as much as I love a nice bear, I'm pretty okay without them visiting my yard : )
We only have black bears which are mostly bashful. It's the brown bears which are scary. I'm glad we have no brown bears.
There is a cat in the house, but he is not my cat.
Bishi currently looks like this:
ahahahaha poor kitty. why the cone?
surgery on ruptured anal glands yesterday
oh noes! that doesn't sound comfortable at all.
Marly, seen here in a rare moment of patience.
This is Lilly in our regular afternoon position on the couch. She got in the habit of napping with my Mom on the couch when she lived with my parents , and has pushed that habit over to me. So I just tend to curl up with a book for an hour while she sleeps on my legs.

And this is her preferred spot on my chest under my neck.
Cepheus, AKA Bluebird, thirteen pounds of muscle and cowardice...
This is one of the first pictures I took of Meatball (and still one of my favourites). He was obsessed with that phone cord. So sproingy.
That's a great picture : )
Heh, thanks. That's actually his head popping up from behind my desk. He'd do it all the time, so finally one day I made sure to have the camera on hand.
So cute!
This is our cat! Or rather, we belong to her. She is the boss of our house and we just live there. We talk about her sometimes at /musings_from_manila :)
Yes.
Wow you guys really have beautiful cats 😅 I dont have one.
Well, I'm afraid that I don't have the opportunity to post any photos at the moment, sorry.
Cats (and dogs) adopt us all the time. The most we have ever shared space with at one time was 9 cats and 2 dogs. Currently we are at 7 cats and 1 dog--and none of them were part of the bigger, previous crowd.
Almost every time we are forced to return a four-legged friend to The Universe, another one shows up--strays, pets whose owners no longer can keep them, etc.
But our household is getting older now, so we have to be very judicious in taking in new boarders.
The above is his royal fluffinees, Ting Li pretending I don't see him playing with his holiday gift
The cats are putting on that they don't think about us.

I thought that was a fox! I kept looking at it trying to determine if it was just a very fox-like dog.
It's a fox
My cat was making a weird growl I've never heard her make before or since.
My cat has a strange, territorial growl, too. He's my first cat, and I had no idea cats did that. It's a bit terrifying but also kind of great.
