Mobile: Adjustable font size

  • Feature Request

My eyes aren't what they used to be. Even with larger phone screens these days, it can be difficult to read for some folks.

I know I've heard this mentioned elsewhere too!

I know I saw something about color blindness testing, but I must have missed the font size post!

Are you on mobile web? Or native app? And which spots in particular are too small for you?

    • JonathanJun 29, 2016 at 8:02 AMΔ

I'm on mobile web. Haven't been accepted for the native app alpha testing yet. I mainly have issues with reading the comments, particularly when they're two or three deep in a thread. It's really, I think, the fact that it's dark gray font on a light gray background, AND a bit small that my eyes don't like, if that helps.

Or is it black font, but really narrow? I can't tell.

PCs do, but it sucks. Macs' screen reader is much more functional than anything that PCs have come up with. Jaws is the go-to for PC screen readers, and it's expensive and still not as functional as Macs' built in screen reader.

On mobile, on iOS, if you have it set up, at least, if you triple click the home button, you can turn on voice over. Which will read the screen for you. This takes getting used to, though. It CAN save the battery if you know how to use it, however. You can turn the brightness WAY down or off if you're good with it.

Source: ex-husband and current roomate is blind. I've invited him to Imzy, because it'd be nice to see how accessible it really is. He's been busy though, and I don't know if he has.

And phones generally have this built in. What are you using?

      • DrGoreJun 29, 2016 at 7:59 AM

I'm using an Alcatel one touch fierce on android, although I think even with a lot of things having it it might be nice, simply so that you can always know it'll be there regardless.
