New! Muting anonymous profiles!

Sometimes when you're having an anonymous conversation, someone barges in and uses anonymity to be a bother. But maybe they aren't breaking any community rules.

Previously, this was just the burden of anonymity that we all had to bear.

Not Anymore!

Now you can mute anonymous profiles in conversations you are participating in!

For example, let's say I, JessicaWhoIsNice, am feeling pretty botherd by anonymous commenter, AnonGreenieTheMeanie.

If I mute them, I won't see or be notified of AnonGreenieTheMeanie's additional comments in that post.

Wait, but how!

Click on the 3 dot menu under the comment and you will see this:

If I click "Block", AnonGreenieTheMeanie will no longer be able to bug me be visable to me. It's that easy!

To be clear, this will only be applied to that one anonymous profile being used and will have no effect on AnonGreenieTheMeanie's named identities or any other anonymous profiles created. AnonGreenieTheMeanie's named profiles will not be revealed so their anonymity is still respected.

This is just our first step in addressing user safety concerns around anonymous profiles. The ability to be anonymous is very important to us but it's also a privilege that needs to be handled responsibly.

Have a lovely weekend!
